as much as i loved the 'debate' on the one thread for new stuff versus multiple posts, my idea of having a separate section was so the front page can get a part that is constantly changing.
we have the chatbox, or delete that if its not going to work, site news section, new products sections then the new threads bit down at the bottom.
a front page that is constantly changing is going to keep people coming back.
sites with stagnant front pages die slow deaths, that was the main problem with the shift to the new software, the old site changed daily, this one changes monthly and people drifted off.
