ok, my custom built thing arrived, and to say its under whelming is being polite.
it needs a 'bit' of work before i would be close to happy.
the servos are craptackular and struggle to turn the wheels unless the thing is moving, so i'll need two decent ones to replace them, the front diff is not locked so climbing anything that means one wheel gets off the ground results in it not wanting to go any further.
the front steering geometry will need to be reworked as the brace that runs off the servo arm touches the servo is one direction and wont go any further.
and i think its going to need longer shocks, the rear end has virtually no travel in any direction.

just from that i can see that this one has the suspension setup wrong.
do any of the hobby shops sell the tubing you need to make your own links.

Richard hooked a couple of us up with the solid alloy rod to make our own links, If you want some he got it from capral aluminum in weshpool on kewdale rd, they may have moved since tho, to malaga i believe..

Depending on what class your running, I wouldnt go anything less than 645MG's for 2.2 and know less than 5645's for Outlaw.
WE NEED PIX!!!
You got the camera so you have know excuses for not post them. :)
Is that the Midgrad Tuber? What axles is it running? Shafty or Clod style?
And if you want some link material, I might have a meter or so you can have.

the limit on the front is the shocks, in the last photo one is fully compressed the other fully extended, the rear limit is cause by the top links touching the chassis.
really want to reverse the steering servo, its ugly as all hell sitting out the front.

can you get a few pics with the body off and it flexing up max travel one end at a time
would like to see how the spring angle works

i think the front links are too short and the rears too long.

Cant sleep, the koala's are driving me nuts with their constant grunting.
The front and rear upper links are mounted way to high at the diff. Just by lowering them down closer to the diff housing and trying to get them more parrallel to the lower links will be a good start in the right direction.
Its not uncommon to have shorter links in the front than the back with the clod based crawlers.
The travel you have now isnt to bad but it looks like you could get a lot more just by laying the shocks down a little more and adjusting the upper links.
The other thing that would make a huge difference is to get rid of all those Tamiya links and put some Traxxas ball ends (#1942) on there.
Its not far from being a very capable crawler, it just needs a little tweeking here and there.

You would need to ring them and ask or look on their website. :)

something just twigged in my head, its ok i'm fine, but if its running duel steering with both servos running off the same output then the servos would be sharing the power.
am i right in thinking that would effectively have half the power of the servo?

Yes to both your questions obz, this is why most that run front and rear steer servo's and or dig units also run a voltage reg as you stock internal bec on your esc is probably on good for 3 amps.
A high torque servo can draw currents up to 5-8 amps per servo under normal conditions. Multiply this by 2 and that becomes 10 - 16 amps.

well got some new parts from junfac today, now just need to fix up a few little issues with the steering, do a bit of testing and it should be good for the next comp.
