Hey blokes , ive sworn by HPI E10 drifters for the last 6 months or so but ive decided im going to turn my HPI Pro 4 into a drifter as its a massivley quick and accurate car and its because of that id love to see it sideways ALL THE TIME ... :)
I noticed in another thread Eitch was running a brushless in his below pictured TA02 .
Im a HARDCORE mamba fan and wondering what you guys would recomend in terms of KV .
Ive got a few 7700KVs spare and i think possibly ive got a 5700 but to find it ... ??? .
Recomendations ?
Adam .

Im still running a 13T brushed in my set up, so I can't offer much advice.
I am looking to go brushless soon so I'm curious to see what others say.
I think a 5700 would be sweet, it's what I want. The 7700 would be brutal...I think.
I'm running a Sidewinder with a 4600kV and its adequate .. thought about going to the 5700kV but not for too long as i didn't really want to spend more money when this is fine for me .. Probably out of your two choices I'd go with the 5700 the 7700 seems extreme.

Ok , another question then .
7700kv vs 5700kv , if i get into the speedy settings and retard the timing for the 7700 , turn down a few specs , will this in a sense equate to the 5700kv or does it miss the sweet spot of the motor
Yeah go with that .. It's what i would do in your situation .. tell us how it works out.

5700kva will be plenty.. 7700 would be way over the top, ive run 4.5's in drifters and its really WAY WAY to much, fun no doubt but battery life is only 15mins or so, with a 8.5 i get better part of 50mins and the tire dont melt down and get to hot either.

I put drifters on my DF-03RA and with the VXL motor it's brutal! Insane torque, motor stays cool :)

we tried a Novak HVMaxx 4.5 set up in an E10 with twin 4600 packs, the diff and spurs melted after 5 or 6 minutes.
Was shit funny though!
Now THAT was a drifter with power!

Any news on how you went by de-tuning a 7700kv motor?
I have one that I want to try but don't have an ESC yet. If the 7700 is no good I might just get a Motor/Esc combo.

hahahaha , i havnt got an esc either .
my original 1 went bang , bought a second hand 1 and it didnt work on arrival so got stooged and finally got a brand spanker from bishops and intermittent didnt work on arrival and now just doesnt work so knowing bishops its gonna be a 6 month changeover as they suck it big time on mailing stuff out .
Ive just bought my 4th last night on RC tech and i told him id hunt him down if it doesnt work ... lol , so hopefully its all good .
In the meantime ive got 4 x 7700kv motors ( from the combos ) so might put 2 up for sale soon .
Mamba max ran PUUURRRFFEECT for me for nearly 2 years and then bang , theive got a failure rate of 100% for me all of a sudden so this will be my last if it gives me the slightest of issues

he's the main customer service guy with Castle Creations, trust me, he's worth an email, my first MM combo had a 5700 that snapped a shaft, and then the second motor lasted 3 runs, both times he arranged a replacement before I even returned mine. Even when I had a nasty crash in an E-Savage with a MM speedy, and the case broke, he sent a new one for nix.
I wouldn't bother with B-P-P, go direct mate!

PS .. Got my 7700kv combo from a bloke on RCTech today and after 4 attempts and nearly $800 on broken ones i finally scored a working 1 ... yipee , bout bloody time but time will tell as i dont have much faith in them anymore .

The 7700 motor is prone to thermal issues, put some cool stuff in that Radiator thingy and also slap a 50mm fan on it, better to be too cool than too hot!

Just wanted to chime in castle creations have a pretty awesome warranty program in my experience - highly recommended.
Also if you break them, even from abuse or you hit them with a sledgehammer - you can get a replacement new one for much cheaper than a real new one - good if you want to abuse them. :) - I've had 1 ESC done under warranty and another just replacement .. only took about 2.5 weeks to get it there and back also.
