Thursday 5th

Had the day off work, so I needed some cheap (or not so) entertainment. Quick trip to Rypers has me cruising home with a TB-03 kit. Got talked out of the TT-01, and by the time I bought bearings and a ally shaft the TB-03 was cheaper anyway, plus it had way more features!

Been awhile since I bought one of these, and by far the hardest and most involved kits I have ever owned. So I set off on nearly a 8 hour quest to build the bastard.

I was pretty happy with it all in the end, just threw the silver can in so I could work out how the motor mount all went together and what not.

Friday 6th
Had a shocker of a morning at work, ended up in the boss and I leaving early. Another trip to the LHS to feed more wads of 50's into the shredder. Wanted 4 cans of paint to do a full copy of the GTR body, but they only had the red and black, so red it was! Didn't really like how it turned out, so no photo's.

Stay posted and I will keep updating.

When I bought the kit I also grabbed a Protoform Mazda 6, because stock Tamiya shells arn't my favourite to be honest. I always forget how much I hate masking. Need to get a new airbrush hose aswell, and find where to buy some decent paints.

Looking forward to seeing the finished body mike. But damn talk about masking windows the hard way!

Care to enlighten me on an easier way? :D Please!

I dread the thought of the chrome pinstripe I have planned.

I never mask thin stripes like that, too much can go wrong, paint bleeds etc. For window edges i just apply the whole window mask, paint the rest of the body, then with asharp knife cut a pinstripe away from the window mask.

Same if you're going to do a chrome pinstripe on flame edges etc. Mask the whole shape, and again just trim off a pinstripe with a sharp knife. Obviously would have had to do some painting on the other side of the body, but saves a lot of time doing individual pinstripe tape masks!

Hrmm, thanks for the tip.

I'll consider trying it, but I'm really not the steadiest with the old knifey :(

I did a step by step on a recent body i painted. Link here: http://www.teamadrenaline.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5144

Tip, dont use a stanley, use a scalpel with a curved blade.

Cool little write up!

I think I will stick to masking the pin stripe though, then I can get a perfectly straight same width line.

Might have to lash out on a decent hobby knife.

It is painted already though, just looks a little average.

Was a rushed job, I'll throw up a photo later on.

ice charger, that takes me way back!

Most ppl now seem to have the Swallow EQ

What makes the Swallow EQ favourable over the ICE?

240V input would be sweet I must admit! Looks like the Swallow can do an extra Lipo cell, aswell as having a built in Lipo balancer, but what else?

Now I see that, I might flog the ICE. I still need a powersupply + Lipo balancer, might work out cheaper that way getting the new charger!

With most ppl now running Lipo the EQ is just a nice easy little unit to use, Lipo Balance and charges everything, runs off the mains as well.

Also recommend getting a Lipo sack
