Hey blokes , last week i scored a few Traxxas 4Techs as presents for a few of the little cousins who have been looking to get into something entry level in the hobby grade sceene but are cash stricken as their only like 12 to 16 .

Cars are great and their stoked with the speed but .... the question of more speed was raised after a week of running them .

Anyway , to get away with it as cheap as possible , i ordered a brushless combo off ebay to try :

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Brushless-35A-ESC-13T-Motor-Combo-1-10-12-RC-Truck-Car_W0QQitemZ160315946798QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Toy s_Hobbies_Radio_Controlled_Vehicles?hash=item16031 5946798&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

I installed it today in my 1 and on the 7.4V lipo its increase in speed was a good 30% but power was totally off tap with extreem wheel spin ( 4wd ) .

They are a 540 size can but do seem to be a 380 sized rotor .

I ran the car stop and start up and down , did minutes of doughis and pretty much thrashed it as hard as i could for an on roader and after finishing off a 4800mah lipo ( solid 35 - 40 minutes ) the motor was only JUST warm , not even strugling and same for the esc .

Tonight i just ran a 11.1V 2300 on it but unfortunately could not give it the same test as it was WAY too quick . Over the 70 meter street i was running it on it was pretty much a gentle squirt to full speed ( you need to cradle it to full throttle or your cars in the gutter ) . Donuts at under half throttle . At top speed on the radar gun , it was 83kph which is the best value for money investment i would recomend to anyone .

15 minutes run on 11.1V to the hardest i could thrash it without ditching the car it was warm to hot and could go to about 20 minutes with no cooling fans ( not hot enouugh to compromise the rotor ) .

All in all , for $115 delivered , this thing comes with the esc , motor and controler card and its the perfect " ON " road basher in my opinion so im mentioning this to any people on this site with budget in mind but wanting some speed ( you will need to run a 3S to get the stupid speeds im talking bout )

Yep agreed they are a pretty good value set up, but the motors do heat up in an offroader such as the Slash

I've seen 2 of those losi drift cars with that bl setup on 2s and they seemed to go pretty well for bashing around the driveway (this was a big drive way) and up the street.
I've never had a 1/10th (I don't count the e-maxx as 1/10th), but seeing those 2 cars and how much they cost was making me think about it.
