Interesting conversation with Dave today, apparently our surface is too rough and we are having problems with our indigenous foke. Also parking is to far away from where we set up so there is no security. This was from someone that visited his shop. Let me set the record straight.
1) this person has never raced at Kwinana yet so how would he know if the surface is to rough, The surface is the same as Bunbury.
2) in three and a half months of running we have had no trouble with any indigenous people.
3) parking is right in front of the pits so security for your car is not a problem.
These sort of things really get on my goat, if people don't have anything good to say about our club keep it to your self. We are trying to make a go of it down here, bad comments are like a disease with this hobbie. Especially if the person making those remarks has never raced at Kwinana yet. If you don't have anything good or positive to say keep it to your self. Its your choice if you wish to race down here. don't scare people off before they have a chance to try our club. Let them make up there own mind.

I can't believe someone is saying that the cars are parked too far away from the pits area. I can't see how you can manage to park any closer. I've posted pictures of the layout in the following thread a while ago http://www.teamadrenaline.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5743
Security wise I've heard of nothing going missing or pinched at Kwinana RC yet. When the local kids come down to have a look we certainly keep an eye on them. But lets face it all kids love watching the cars racing around.
Is this person getting his info second hand from someone else? I've heard from other experienced racers that the surface is not too bad wear wise. But for heavens sake it is an old netball court, it's never going to be perfect.
The times that I've gone to race at Kwinana it's been nothing but good fun. I would urge anyone who races or just starting out to at least come down and have a look or a go.
KingBob
28-07-2009, 07:55 PM
Gotta be someone who clearly hasnt got a clue.
Cars are parked maybe 4 or 5 METERS from the track! And half that from the pit area, and some people with utes even pit out of the car! And they're in a clear open area visible at all times. The current rostrum even faces them!
What a joke. Some people need a better hobby than bashing things they have no clue about.

We have been running Kwinana RC for the last four months on every Sunday. Just because the committee decided that we were going to have the day off was nothing to do with feeling like it. You must understand running a club takes a lot of time and effort. Not only opening the gates on Sunday but things that are also done during the week as well. Last week i could not make it because of family commitments. I hope this clarifies why we did not open our doors last week.

Just to let people know Kwinana RC is having a open day on the 29th of this month. This will not be at the usual venue. It will be held at the Kwinana requatic center. This is a indoor venue so it will be nice and dry and i believe we are going to get the chance to run on the basketball courts. We will be sharing the place with other clubs so basically its a meet and greet and try. Its also a chance to promote RC in WA not just in Kwinana. So if you wish to participate and help promote our sport please let me know ASAP. Shaun our secretary will provide more details on whats going on.

Ok with the club open day, we have two 20-30 minute spots for demos. One at 11am and one at 1:30pm. The stands look like they run from 10am-2pm.
It would be great to have a mixture of cars for the demos, say 4-5 in each one, and a couple of people manning the display in shifts. With setup and pack up, we'd be looking at shifts of 9:30-11, 11-12:30, and 12:30-2. So 6 volunteers, plus others for the display runs would be appreciated.

Had an interesting day today down at the track. We had a member of the Kwinana legislative council visit us with his grand sons. I put a few questions to him about making a permanent track. He seemed very keen on the idea and was going to put the idea to the rest of the council members. He then started to talk about using the lights at night time. So it looks like we are going to be able to run our cars at night time so during summer we will race on Saturday nights. The discussion then went onto the off road side of thing and he pointed to area next to the courts which we originally wanted. So now it looks like we have a bit of weight in the council and i have a good feeling that we are going to get permanent rights to the site. If we do the next thing we will be doing is getting some proper paint and laying down a better surface. Also cement for the corners and straights.

The following week Bunbury is holding there A1 signs interclub on Saturday and on Sunday bayswater re-opens. I don't want to compete with bayswater so if they are going to operate every second sunday we will operate on the days they don't. I also want to be at the bayswater track to see how they are going to operate. Take the opportunity to try the baywater track guys and hopefully will be back to racing in two weeks if the weather holds out.

Sorry about today guys, hopefully we will see better weather soon. I'm looking outside at the moment and the sun is out. Due to the weather mans window being dirty it could of been possible to race today. But also being Fathers day to get good numbers might of been a mission. Anyhow Bunbury inter club next week and bayswater opening day. Now to the subject of baywater. If they decide to run every Sunday and compete with us what shall we do. Do we compete or do we change our days of operation. One choice is to run on Saturday nights under lights. I will let the members decide on what we shall do so i will put it to a vote. One other thing i will add is that we are only $50 dollars to become a member. You are covered by aarcmacc so you can enter into state and national titles. All the money raised stays with the club. So every cent you spend goes toward track upgrades and improvements. That means the more members the better we are going to get. If the bayswater guys become the opposition i am going to forward some ideas that will guarantee people turning up like prizes on the day. I am not sure if this has been tried before for electric TC but if you can walk away with a fifty dollar gift voucher i am sure this encourage people to turn up.

i think we should just leave it as sundays and keep doing what we do. If we can get the ok to make a perm track that would attract alot more people to for sure.

What would happen if the council turned around and said you can race nitro's on the track again. Would they still look after the guys racing electric ?????. That will be one of the question i will be asking.

if nitros every got to run on bayswater again it would prob last 2-3 meets before complaints forced the council to backflip.
electric off road has enough issues and thats just with car lights leaving the place.
might even be forced to get my old nitro going and take it for a run a couple of nights a week to help with complaints. all's fair in love and war.

well i havn't even bothered putting my electrics back in the F1.... it'll stay on the shelf for awhile longer, the attitudes seen on rc tech really has me baffled why they electric guys are even considering turning up never mind paying money to run.

When the nitro club started there it was an industrial area and no houses across the road .. nitros will be too noisy and therefore wont run there because of the complaints .. when I used to go there to watch the nitros agessss ago (10 years or so) there were still guys running electric races on a shortened track between races.

Ok the weather gods are going to smile on us this weekend so its back to racing. Going to try a new format so we can cater for numbers that turn up. If you are interested in racing please nominate on this web site so we can get a good idea of numbers. This allows us to have your details pre registered in the computer so we can start racing sooner.

It might make more sense to pm Stretch the details ie:
Name:
Mobile phone:
Class:
Transponder # or if club transponder required:
Radio Frequency:
And then have them on record especially for the regular racers.
We also have to be aware that not all the people who come down to race frequent this forum.

Due the the poor attendances we have been getting over the last couple of months we are looking at finishing racing for the rest of this year. Will try again next year but in the mean time will be making a effort to get some land allocated to set up a off road track in the area. The sad thing is without members and support its hard for a club to survive. Maybe next year we can get a bit more interest and make on road a bit more popular. : (

Got the go ahead to operate on Saturday from the council but we cant use the lights until the person that can give us a go ahead returns on the 18th. So the best time to run will be in the afternoon when the sea breeze comes in. I was thinking around 2PM because that still gives us good light right up to 6PM. What do you think guys. We need 1 hour setup and pack up time but that comes down to how many people help. I expect we need about 3 hours to get through the day so 4 hours tops and we should be finished.

is this an actual meet? or just a members get together?
if it is an actual meet that ppl can come to and race you mite consider a new thread with a topic to reflect that.
45 pages with a meet tagged on the end imho isn't a great way to inform ppl what's happening.

mite be easier to just do what the carine boys do, just whack a new thread each new event. keeps things tidy so old threads just disappear.
once you start running stuff on a regular basis like west coast you only need a thread when the shit hits the fan and meet wont be on.
