our new printer, gear that drives a wiper blade the cleans the head, its not even needed while printing, but when it powers up it wipes the head, no wipe and it spits the dummy red lights starts flashing and it refuses to work.
just great when you have 50 shirts due out for the weekend.
i'm going in hard with the superglue 2morrow and i'll handle the fallout from that after i get the job done.

lol its always the way aint it. We has a .10cent part fail in our 2grand printer and it took it out for 3 days and cost us a heap in service fees.

Odds are theres a sensor to switch to detect if the wiper has moved. Find the switch, close or open it, and see how it goes. As you say it only does it on startup so you might only need to do it once to get it working, then dont turn it off!
