Hey blokes , 1 of the locals here down at the holliday house just picked up 1 of these 1:8 Himoto Brushles buggies and im quiet impressed .
Has anyone seen them before , what do you think ... he scored it from the hobby shop dwn here for $700 comes with massive brushless , 2 x 11.1V lipos ( runs both at once ) and its pretty hardcore on speed :

It looks like it comes with a pair of 2200mah Lipos? Wonder what C rating they are, the motor must not draw a lot or the ESC must be a lot more tolerant to ripple current than a MMM.
Get a Savage Flux RB!

i like that buggy style , ive got too many trucks allready inc the emaxx .. lol
Plus for the price its a sweet deal i reckon .
25C lipos it came with

2200mah @ 25C is 55 Amps constant. On 6s Lipo (2 * 3s) I wouldn't be comfortable with less than a 125 Amp constant rating personally.
Even on 4s Lipo I have a 150 Amp constant rating.

Yeah well I run 5000mah 30C hardcased Lipos for 4s
If I go 6s it'll be the Polyquest 6000mah 25C
the issue is not only if the packs can't provide the amps that the motor wants will they puff, but what is being found on 6s is that when you brake there is some voltage that has to go back to the battery, if the battery can't take it as it's beyond it's limit, you get ripple current, the esc switches on hundreds of times a second, the caps boil and the ESC fries.
But in that instance the battery will still be ok, so people immediately assume it can't be a battery thats actually caused the issue.

Read the thread, its running 3S not 6S.

i cant find it in the link superoo , as far as i assumed on the car it was running 2 x 11.1s in series ( 22.2V ) .
Does it actually run them in paralel does it and the speedy s actually taking 11.1V @ 4400mah

1800kv motor on 3s only would be pretty slow.

The motor is 2700kv.

If it ran them in parallel it'd make a lot more sense.
2700kv @ 11.1 volts is not bad, maybe a shade over 60kph

I am happy to answer any questions,
I only recieved the car today, have not tested it yet due to wet weather, at the moment im just checking over everything before giving it a run eg. Shock Oils, screws etc
It runs at 11.1v with 2 x 3s parallel,

so about 30,000rpm geared up then .
Ok , here are my options :
1 : buy the Himoto run it as is
2 : buy a 1:8 chassis buggy , buy a conversion kit for it , throw the feigaia that im currently using in my emaxx ( or what ever the bloody things called ) and throw that in it .
I want to keep this project under $800 so is it possible to find a 1:8 chassis and conversion kit within that price ( second had chassis no probs )

Buggy tires are smaller and less load on the battery, you can allways change the battery's anyway for the $700 or so i think is a great starting price

The next big thing will be 1/8 electric buggies! Stanbridges sell the Himoto RTR for $799 or so with a 2200KV motor which looks pretty well ready to take on the nitro guys! It's a pity WC's track couldn't handle these as it would be awesome. Maybe astro on jump on and off-ramps might help when the track gets a makeover soon?
1/8 E-Buggies are nearly as fast as truggies, are lighter than truggies so don't need as much grunt to run and are bulletproof so guys used to running 1/10 buggies would have more spare time to watch other races or run another class!

I'll second that, when I was running a Jammin X1CR with a 2000kv motor on 4s Lipo it flew and it was as tough as nails as well!
RB personally I'd hunt down a Hyper 7 or similar and do a conversion yourself.

I think you can probably pick up a roller for 200-300 and a conversion kit from Tekno rc is around 120 US shipped (off memory)
A little more initial outlay but it's a better quality buggy than a Himoto or a Caster.

you really only need the motor mount which is
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcmhypermount
and here is somebody who has done one !!
http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18504
Garth has one and was running it around the Ashfield track a couple of meetings ago.
It is a very impressive runner for an RTR and yes, runs 4s in series, just like ALL other racing 1/8ths.
It is great value for money....
