I started with a TA05, it was an awesome car... I still have it!!! i have never raced a shaft drive but all the top end cars seem to be belt drive, i have heard that it reduces torque steer or something like that...

sweet job on the body!!! they look so good when they are new... until they get all cracked and scratched hahaha

Belts or shaft is like ford v's holden or mac v's PC, You will always have people who like one over the other or will swear one is better than the other so it comes down to what you prefer and the only way to find out is to buy one and see if it suits. Shafts should be a lot less maintance though.

Mate nothing wrong with the TA05, still got a fair few trophies from my TA-05 racing days, it's a good car to learn on and will see you right through to 19t racing and even beyond. And they're as tough as nails!

i have run both,
The shafts are good for brushed stocked and 540, they have an lower internal ratio, so you would be hard pressed to get the final drive ratio need for 17.5
any more motor than that , and they seem to strip the ring and pinions in the diffs ...

for now stock it is until i decide to get 17.5 and a esc to suit

Glad you enjoyed your self, and with KB coming down with his on road car that makes 11 regulars. And we should have 12 by next week so the club is growing.

I'd just run what you got until you burn the two motors out, when I was running 540 I was pulling laps that would have had me 2nd or 3rd in Stock anyway.

Do you mean what type of cars? What classes?

Well I was running an ancient HPI Pro 4 with a 17.5T brushless in stock class. But there's a mix of Tamiya, Hot Bodies and I think X-Ray. At the moment it's more for the fun of it rather than anything else. If it looks anything remotely like a touring car bring it down and have a go.

We had a some variety last week where we saw some mini's come down and that was a blast. Would love to see more of them racing too.
