Was hoping someone could answer these for me.
When it comes to brushless motor kv ratings is the higher the kv rating the quicker the motor?
Eg. A 9000kv is quicker than a 3300kv?
AND
Does anyone know a quick formula for working out spur and pinion gearing and what the final figure relates to, faster = less run time etc?
Cheers

Yep , it means that every 1V you put into it , thats how many RPM it will do .
3300kv x 7.4V = 24,420RPM

so 9000 x 11.1 = tears and broken stuff.

If your trying to figure out gearing ratios one of the simpler programs to use can be found @ Gear Chart (http://www.teamadrenaline.net/forums/www.gearchart.com) And Here (http://www.rcracing.com/Gear_Ratio_Program_1100.cfm)
There is some useful information on the Castle Creations website here (http://www.castlecreations.com/support/max_tuning_guide.html)
