just putting mine together now and i think ive done something wrong. using 20 weight oil as recommended and after its all gone back together there is some serious droop. only done the back 2 and the ass end is almost dragging along the ground. the springs arnt nearly hard enough to keep it sitting high. if i stick 2 of the biggest spacers in the spring gets all out of shape and barely sits at a decent ride height.

is this all just a scam to get me to buy the spring set as well? r the stock oil shock springs the softest ones? the car is otherwise stock with a kan 6cel pack. thinking maybe the springs from the friction shocks r gonna be a bit stiffer.

maybe i havent oiled em properly. if i read the instructions right, with the springs off: if i push the shaft all the way in..its smooth and it stays in. if i pull it all the way out it stays out. there is resistance if u push down fast. so it will dampen. but it should be the springs that do all the work to push the shaft back out right? and they aint doin there damn job. kinda pissed now. spend so much extra on top of the cars price and it still aint right.

any tips? think of anything ive done wrong? HELP!!!

from memory, the stock oil shock springs are the softest. I used a lot of spacers but the spring held up fine. Do you have the collar on so that the spring pushes against the spacers flush?

Mine droops too..the springs are WAY too soft.

I bought a spring set today, which should stiffen things up :D

no.... it's likely you didnt oil them right, it took me three attempts before I was satisfied, and I'm still not happy with my fronts...

I put the stiffest springs on them but it was too stiff for the track... BB pointed out that the softest ones are the go! so I tried them, and have since change them around a bit again, I think. heh

oiling them is a bitch!

I ended up changing the piston on the stock too, I cant remember which hole piston I'm using now. I'm also using 25wt, but 20wt should be fine.

too-stiff springs will cause the truck to not get the power down, and it will bounce everywhere, bringing even less control and traction, it depends where your racing/driving it I spose.

Initially i was running the stiffest of the springs, with NO spacers (it sat fairly low).. now i've gone softer and raised it up.

I suggest checking out what others are using. there should be a pile of Mini-T's at ryper tommorow morning (sat)

Cray -

20wt is the suggestion from Losi if your running on a Mini track.

The spring that come with the shocks are the weakest but they are good for hook up. Use the spring adjustment clip (while there is a battery in) until the front arms are level. In the rear use the clips until the bones (Driveshafts) are just above level (ie the gearbox is slightly higher than the hubs)

That will be a good starting point.

The spring tuning kits might be something to look at later. When bashing its good to use a slightly stiffer spring, as wehn bashing people go a tad more mental than they would on a track.

Soft setups allow for more traction - Racing! I do suggest you run a slightly heavier oil too. With 20wt the T will tend to be a bit bouncy, try some 30wt

good advice from all...thanks. after finishing off the front shocks last night i took it out the back and went for a quick run. was pleasantly suprised. the lower ride height probably helps it. it aint perfect. but at least i know its normal. gonna head over to rypers now for a quick run and will hopefully catch u guys down there tmrw.
