that will make my 2048x1536 800kb photos into 1024x768 or 800x600 150kb photos in mass ??

its super simple, you just record an action then replay it on a directory. beauty of that is you can include some image enhancements in the script and save it specially for use on web pages.
probably only really important if you pay for hosting a site and have a bandwidth allowance.

Im with Rev on this 1 , photoshop is great but why go through all that when all you need to do with the other program is just right click the file / s and press resize .

cause the photoshop resize algorithms are pretty good. plus you can record extra modifications into an action to fix up exposure, contrast, hue, sharpness, noise. plus when your resizing to make a file small specifically for web the photos don't end up with as many jpg artifacts as some other resizing programs.
its the difference between taking your porsche to the local caltex and having them do a tune with a timing light and screwdriver vs the porsche dealer who is using the right equipment.
