OK well I have an old TA05 IFS that i'm currently converting into a drifter. I'll be running an Tamiya Super Stock brushed can and either an XL-5 or HPI esc, whichever fits better.

How should I have the diffs? spool or ball? It currently has ball diffs.

I'm going to grab some HPI drift tires and see how it goes from there

Bostick make a locker for every model on the market, plus bunning sells it so you know your not paying a huge markup.

its blu-tack btw

Blue tac lockers work well for gear diff cars, but TA05's are belt drive and thus wont work..

Locking a belt drive is easy, somepeople remove the diff rings and put a bike patch in there and tighten it up,, ive used good qty double sided tape with good results, or leave it as it is and remove the grease and glue it with CA ... simple simple.. if its a derlin gear CA wont work tho.. so bike patch or o-ring or similar will be the only option.

Or buy a spool...

I glued the rear diff this arvo, just waitin for it to dry now, I ended up with the hpi esc as the xl5 was way to big.
I havent got any drift tires yet so I just taped up some old TC rubber It might not last long but I have a lot of tape :)

lmfao , i think we all started with tape over the rear tyres 1 time or another , i remember doing that to my Jet Hopper for some sideways action ... no bullshit

RB it works sweet as, sure tape goes flying everywhere after a while but she still gets sideways :)

OK i thrashed the crap outta the crappy tamiya can, after 3 packs it has now decided to die, saving for a brushless system and drift tires (the tape gets average after awhile :) )

*after playing around with it tonight I found that the motor is fine, the hpi esc had blown its fuse. I pulled it out and banged in an xl5 that can handle the motor better, hangin out to test it properly tomorrow :)
