Well....I ordered a couple Beast Raptors and big block mounts from one18th for myself and Cray. Got the package today. No MOTOR MOUNTS! Man was I pissed. Emailed them right away and sorted out a good deal to get them here as quick as possible including a replacement Beast for the one I burnt out a while ago.
Got home today, and realised a motor mount I had bought previously but couldn't be bothered fitting is actually a BIG BLOCK motor mount! Yay for me!
So, I quickly chucked it in and gave it a squirt round the driveway. DAMN, this thing is fast! I'm running a 13T xray pinion instead of my crap atomic 14T which wont fit. Truck almost flips over from a standstill. Plenty of speed but will get beaten in a straight line against a brushless, but that's to be expected.
Most importantly, there is HEAPS of controllable power. No more feathering the throttle. No more cogging (as slight as it was with GP cells). Just hit the throttle and fly. I reckon this thing would take off faster than a mamba running the same number of cells EASY.
As long as you don't overheat it, this motor RAAAAWWWKS!

Weather forecast says it's gonna rain at some point between now and Friday. No way the track's gonna dry out. I won't hold my breath.

if there's no racing I will goto Ryper again. I must have my fix... I spent 30 mins sweeping the ryper mini-T track, and after just the sweep the track was rad fun...
If I cant convince them to increase the size of it, maybe I can get them to repair the jumps, etc. Or maybe offer to put work into it myself...
I reckon if shite loads of us start rocking up to use it, they'll get the hint to work on it... :)

Justo, you said that if you dont overheat the motor, it rocks....how do you go about overheating it anyway??

But of course :P
I was thinking that it overheats in its normal operation...but thats obviously not normal if it does :D

nah, it's just like every other motor. But I haven't had enough 300 size motors to know how hot is too hot.
Good thing is, Mike @ one18th is replacing the motor for free!

whats the go with pinions. i shoulda got a set with the rest of the stuff but it slipped my mind. one18th forums say 14t-16t but is there any special kind/size i need? dont think my placcy one is gonna last very long with the beast.

I'm not sure. The pinion that I thought wouldn't fit, actually does fit. I don't think you have to worry. I thought that the splines on the shaft came out and made the shaft thicker, but it seems they are flush. Maybe it was my other beast that I got confused....
Actually the stock ones *should* do alright. With the splines, the pinion shouldn't slip. Therefore it shouldn't melt like when you use them with mambas.

Just put my 18t back together, this is what happens to my tires with a 10cell pack :D
Top: standstill
Bottom: full throttle

And yes, it was a pain in the ass to hold the truck, pull full throttle, and take a pic.

Hahaha.....awesome! I had a similar problem when I ran the mamba in my M18, all the tyres came off their rims.
