View Full Version : Carine about to loose its curvy straight!

The Carine RC club has recently been informed that due to the re-development of the adjacent primary school a corner of the club's land which contains the main straight will be lost. This section of land has always technically been on the primary school site and the fact the fence was a few meters away from the actual site boundary has never been an issue. With the re-development of the school about to commence the site is to be re-fenced along the correct boundary lines. Needless to say the club is very disappointed by the lost of the land and of the straight which has been a feature of Carine, in a couple of different configurations, since the start. The club intends to undertake a re-modeling of the track as soon as possible to allow racing to continue at Carine.

This can't be true can it ???

How much of the straight will you lose ?

I don't know about everyone else but I hope this doesn't put Carine out of action for too long.

Paul , Volker have you guys heard anymore about this situation ????????

We can rebuild him! None of the straight will be lost but the entire sweeper from the end of straight to the bottom corner before Petes favorite jump will now be the wrong side of the fence.

Yeh, its actually happened. The fence is up. The angle of the photo seems to make it look even worse. The sweeper part of the track is gone but the infield is still there, its just a one way road at the moment! It would be terrible to loose Carine as a racing track but i don't think this will happen. There are plans to remodel and extend the track and im hoping it can start soon. We're already trying to source clay

Hello, A few of us really want to join a RC club as we are new to it and have just purchased electric monster trucks. We live in warwick and thought that Carine would be great but it seems we cant get hold of anyone there, can someone point us in the right direction please!!:):D

They probably wont even use that bit of land, probably more a case of correcting the boundaries while surveying for whatever work will be done.

Its just a tempary fence to close off the site but the guys putting it up said there will be a large retaining wall built around that area in the future.

heres an idea: approach the school and ENGAGE with them to see if theres any possibility of building RC into their "extra" curriculum. Just like chess, or mmm.. Debating.

You can have:

sponsorship with a local hobby store to provide cheap tamiya rtrs.
inter school challenges.
teach the kids to learn about team work
teach the kids to look after property maintenance
teach the kids about the appreciation of driving a scaled model.
teach the kids about electronics.
teach the kids about etiquette in life (from being on the track)

etc etc

and god only knows... maybe the SCHOOL will also look after the track maintenance!

win win i reckon.

That would be tops T Mac. I'm sure someone will be able to let you in if needed.

Not being fussy but it's important to get the right sort of dirt. A sandy, loamy fine gravel is best rather than an all-out white clay as this doesn't cope with water very well.

Wouldnt having regular club meets be more of a priority than getting clay?

i am not gona b the one to bring it in, i am not in perth atm, i will give the guys a call and see if there is anything about, it will probably b more of the red clay you get in the foothills more than anything... i'll call the guys tomorrow and see if they may have stuff coming up, if they do i'll give you there number and you can deal with them direct cut out the middle man

The stuff we've used last was red clay/subsoil from the foothills of Kelmscott/Armadale and was perfect

Keep an eye out here on the Carine section of the TA website for the next meet but there will have to be some busy bee's before then to remake the track. The club is obviously a bit shell-shocked by the sudden (2 weeks notice) loss of a good chunk of our lovely straight so we'll have to regroup and come back stronger and better. Just a bad time for me (just taken over a business) and a few of the other guys all flat out with work up to Christmas so it will be pushing it to make it happen before then.

Hey, there are a few of us living near Carine and really want to help to get it sorted if we could!! We are fairly new to RC but the track looks good and im sure with some time and effort it could be beck to normal. Then we would obviously join the club and maybe regular race/bash meets could be a reality?
