Hi guys.

I am fairly new to the hobby, but love tinkering with anything mechanical or electrical, and love loud noises and speed.

This looks like a perfect hobby for me to dip my toe into.

I have been slowly builiding a TA05 kit, that I aim to use for racing.

I am thinking about getting an electric buggy for a bit of bashing, and to help me develop my skills controlling rc cars. I am guessing that a tourer will be difficult to cut my teeth on. Other than clubs, I will have no opportunity to practice with a tourer, as I don't fancy running it on my local roads / car parks due to the potential for damage.

That said - can anyone recommend me with a good buggy to start with? I have done some research, but am bewildered by the choice.

Here are my preferences:

(1) RTR is OK, but I enjoy building the kits.

(2) Something that I can upgrade over time as my skill improves.

(3) Something that is widely acceptable in the racing classes held in the various clubs around Perth. I have had no experience yet with any of the clubs, so am pretty ignorant about the local off-road race scene.

(4) Something with reliability, strength and parts availability.

I'm fairly open regarding budget, so long as it doesn't result in bankruptcy or divorce :D

Cheers.

I know its not a buggy but the team associated T4 RTR seems like a good starting point. Truck racing is VERY popular at westcoast on friday nights.
Maybe even pop down to the club and check things out!

Yep i was going to say the SC10 stadium truck two wheel drive and really helps your throttle finger being 2WD.

yeah, if you want to learn without too much damage then a corr truck is a good start.
traxxas slash, hpi blitz, ae sc10, losi strike are all good starting points. and you can get them all as rtr. the slash and strike now also come with 2.4ghz versions.

Thanks Guys, I will definately look into these suggestions.

I was in Perth RC at lunchtime, and ended up walking out with an M-05 mini cooper kit.

Obviously not a buggie or a truck, but it seemed like a good introduction to on-road racing. And I used to own a Leyland mini - best car I ever had!!

If your going to get a buggy to race offroad a 2wd buggy might be something to look at the class is coming back and they are fun to drive..

Personally I think for someone wanting to get into racing, Corr is probably the best option right now.

....no I don't have a Corr truck for sale :)
