Dammit!
I was bashing my Mini-T yesterday in a car park, and my 14T aluminium pinion shat itself....it came loose on the motor shaft, and some how its chewed out the inside of the pinion, making it all wobbly and useless now..
The only thing I can think of is the flat spot i filed onto the motor shaft just isnt "deep" enough...i'll have to do it a little bit more to make the set screw sit a bit nicer.
Does anyone know where I can buy some pinions locally? I'm looking for a 14T, and a 20T with a 59 tooth spur, for some mega top speed stuff once my LiPo arrives ;)
Cheers!

Hey Joe, The Losi Sport is working well. Have you tried Perth Hobby, they have the largest range of mini t parts in Perth.

I bought my 12T pinion from radio models. They have diff sizes avail. I cant remember what manufacturer it is, I'll check when I get home from work. I've checked the wear on it, hardly any, seems to be holding up really well! will let you know! They have I think 5 or so diff sizes avail

Perth Hobbies have (or at least had on saturday) a range of Golden Horizon pinions. 9T through to about 20T i think. All colour coded too.

so... a 20t pinion would be good for top end speed yes as long as i didnt destroy the main gear with too much throttle on take off?
or have i got it the wrong way around?

20t seems way big....slow acc, but high speeds I guess. Watch out for the motor overheating

Havn't tried them but that's not a bad price.

lol, Bloody Painfully-slow Postage.
Stuff BPP, I'd rather pay 7 bucks and get em instantly from PHC, rather than waiting for their slow ass shipping.

yeah - the 20t is huge, and wont fit with the stock gear cover either - you'll need one of the Lunsford clear covers to run anything around an 18t i think - not definate on that tho...
The acceleration is definately noticeable - you prolly wont pull wheelies unless ur at an 8cell or more - you have the 8000 right?
The accel is still pretty quick with my 2cell tho - overheating COULD be a problem, but i've never had any probs - the ESC stays ok - but the motor gets warm enough not to touch it.
That's right opAsx - it'll give you better top end :) The trinity's will give you'll notice a slightly higher top end speed too. I hear RC18T MT Tyres will fit the stock sized Losi rims tho for another alternative :)
sorry - strayed a lil there -lol- Those golden horizon pinions sound cool - i'm gonna go check em out - colours are wicked hehehe

9t - Purple
10t - Silver
11t - Green
12t - ???
13t - Red
14t - Blue
15t - Gold

I just emailed Mark from MRC Model Car Parts in Canberra and he has a set of GPM pinions for $15 plus $1.80 shipping. The set is 13,14,15 but you could email him for other parts.

Theres no point using the rc18t mt tyres with an 8k mamba and lipo. The tyres have a huge sidewall and flex heaps under normal load, letalone under huge RPM's. Even the standard size dit hawgs balloon out uncontrollably. They'd be ok on a regular 6 cell pack though.
