these are the rules i use on my forums and most forums use very similar these days
this bussiness of no price make me an offer is crap also, every one knows what they want for something so put a price in ya add
these tools that bump there add every day its just bloody stupid its not like there is 50 classified adds put up every day

The same guidelines apply to everyone, no ifs and no buts.

IMPORTANT

Before advertising anything in this section you must read and understand these rules. If you do not understand these rules please contact a Moderator.

-if you have an add check to see if you have replies nothing worse than not getting an answer when you want to buy some thing

- No commercial advertising is allowed. Please read the forum rules.
There are no EOI (Expressions Of Interest)or make an offer you're either selling it or you aren't. If you want to auction something then put it on EBAY But dont Advertise it here. Any posts without pricing may be removed.

Selling or Purchasing items from this forum is done so at your own risk.

- If there are any legal issues arising from a sale or purchase of an item from this forum then we will hand over every piece of information to the authorities so the matter can be dealt with no exceptions. So if your item is not legit don't advertise it here.

- A word of advice; if you are buying something from someone you don't know. Get every aspect of the purchase in detail and try to do it through a proper email address (ie: not a hotmail or yahoo account). If someone has internet access then they will have a legitimate ISP account. It would also be advisable to obtain their land line numbers and maybe even a copy of their license.

-If you have a swap add its up to you to go do the swap the person swapping is doing you the favour

-No bumping of adds your add will be seen by everyone
Creating identical threads within the 7 days is also considered bumping

- We suggest that you endeavour to follow include the following information in your advertisement, where applicable.
ITEM:
CONDITION:
REASON FOR SELLING:
PRICE AND PRICE CONDITIONS:
EXTRA INFO/CONTACT DETAILS:
LOCATION:
PICTURES:
-IF you do not follow these rules your ability to advertise may be withdrawn

Good idea BP, A few forums I go on dictate that if you have a low itrader rating, you have to send first, even if you're selling. I would also suggest we put an age limit on classifieds, basically you need to be old enough to enter into a contract (if you want to use the legal sense), 18 is a good guideline to be able to "make your own decisions", sick of seeing kids try and do deals, expect others to run around after them, and then have second thoughts and get mummy and daddy to bail them out.

If you're trying to get a swap either you go get the item or pay postage both ways.

Do things in a reasonable time frame, if you want something that's up for sale, you can't expect it to be held for 2-3 weeks. Each person will be different, but essentially keep in mind their time is just as valuable as your time. I think also if you dislike someone's price don't hijack their thread, if you need to speak up, drop them a PM, unless it's something absurd like a TT-01 for $700 or something.

But pretty much what Big Pete has said is spot on.

im not sure the age limit would be fair to some of the guys on here look at emlyn and the butcher boys they are easy and good to deal with
not fair to exclude them from selling stuff

..true, could we base it on an itrader rating then? Clearly there needs to be a way to differentiate between someone like Emlyn who can make a decision for himself, and someone like Coreypaul who needs daddy's ok to pick his nose (well, u know what I mean)

bit hard to get a rating if you cant buy/sell?
wat about, if you d1ck around buying/selling stuff you get suspended/ banned from classified?
classified feedback always helps.
theres enough modds here to keep things in check. if anyones having issues, contact a mod. suspend the add till its sorted.

im sure we've all had problems with this sort of thing, and not just from kids. ive dealt with 12 yr olds that are easier to deal with than adults.

Is there really such a issue going on that we have to change the rules to suit a few people? I don't see to much wrong doing going on. And some people do have stuff they are not sure on what its worth so make an offer is fine.

+1 ......agree

just my two cents worth.... but I one think that shits me off when reading the for sale threads,is peeps posting replys that have nothing to do with the items being sold.
Also posting your opinions and smart-arse comments don't belong in the classifieds either........

unsure, prob just part of the rules in place that stop people from posting in classifieds until they reach a post limit.
that would be part of vBulletin.

But I am not going to do it 25 times. That seems a little extreme.

Hey glidingfool , how are you .

Just thought I'd clarify why I set a 20 post requirement before letting people advertise in this forum .

I've owned this site for over 4 years and it costs me about $200 a year to keep the basics running on it . I don't charge membership , I don't charge fees and any money I make on it in advertising I pump back to the site in the way of prizes for it's members .

It's a non profit site but in saying this I'll be honest when I say I don't appreciate people joining just to sell their stuff so they can make money then never be heard from again .

If people want to contribute to tge site in terms of starting threads and replying to posts that are relavent to their topics then I have no issues with them advertising their private sales so yes , that's my reason for 20 post minimum and hope you understand .

Not to sound rude but if you don't agree with my thoughts there's always eBay

I believe this was done to prevent crawlers/spiders/bots (and search engines) from reading the posts in the classifieds and collecting email addresses (and sometimes phone numbers).

By setting minimum 2 posts (i think its 2 posts from memory?), it therefor ensures best chance that only a real person has access to that area.

** edit: this is how it was done when Team Adrenaline first started up when myself and James Mandy ran it. Remote Bandit has the site now and appears he has set a 20 post minimum, and appears to be for a good reason too!

For remote Bandit . . .

Fair enough! The man who pays the bills sets the rules.

Ebay here I come unless someone would care to suggest a better solution?

Thanks for staying polite. I'll leave now.

How about people post stuff for sale at a reasonable 2nd hand price, not for the price i could go out and buy for right now brand new! and not some cowboy at home saying it is new or like new, actually new stuff from a shop, like full size cars as soon as it is in your posession off the dealer lot it is no longer new which sadly for some dreamers means you don't get back what u paid unless they are of some signifigance or rare. Not gonna call out anyone but cmon guy's we were not born yesteday and u just end up looking like a tool.

Cavet Emptor Mate.

People will bend the truth and maybe ask to much. Its up to the buyer to ask the right questions and see pictures to ensure the condition. If you are not happy with the price you can always bargin with the seller. If you dont like the price. Dont buy.

Its all pretty simple stuff.

Lol. Fair enough.

Its human nature to get as much value back out of something they sell. If you dont like the price dont pay it.

If you are to lazy to investigate the item you are purchasing correctly. Its pretty much your own fault if you get burnt.

While you may try to have the best morals. Not everyone does Just because its a forum you cant expect everyone to have exceptional morals.

Im not having a dig at you specifically here just being devils advocate.
