What are some general guidelines I can follow regarding running my Revo at full throttle? In particular, I know you don't want to be doing maximum rpms for any extended period of time. So, what are "rules" for running wide open throttle?

I tend to only run WOT for no more than maybe 2 secs. Is that safe?

Also, what about if I'm running maybe 3/4 throttle but I can hear my engine slowly creep up and sound like it's gonna shit itself?

I just don't wanna blow another conrod like I've done before.

as long as your running it rich and you are not overheating it there is no reason for you not to be able to hold it WOT longer then that.

my old rc10gt used to spend a fair amount of time at WOT and it was a good runner. never had a problem with it. but i ran it rich. i have seen people running savages at WOT for 10+ seconds while out bashing. those guys have been running nitro for a fair while longer than i have een and they were all having no probs with it.

again, if your using a decent fuel with enough lube in it and not running it too lean there isnt any reason to avoid WOT for short bursts. 2 seconds is not alot of time, especially compared to some of the oval races i have seen where its almost at WOT the majority of the session.

Wicked. I just get worried cos I blew my SH conrod when I had my Nitro MT from going WOT for too long.

However, I want to lean it out a bit. I tried it yesterday and got a nice power increase, still had blue smoke trailing out too.

i ran my kyosho pure ten at WOT a bit too lean and all i got was a nice "whrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrTINK !" and i knew i did somethign wrong :)

i was talking to a mate who said his engine will run WOT for al song as it has fuel in it.

he runs his own blend of fuel and has sliced and modded his shell to channel heaps of air over the cooling head.

i think he said along the lines of "WOT aint bad as long as your not running lean or running hot"

when i leaned my gs11r pure ten too much, there was too much heat and not enough lube inside the engine, causing the piston to jam and the conrod to snap.

i have run it a fair bit harder since with a richer setting and it will do WOT passes at my fathers house and thats probably a 15 second bitumen run at WOT

The other thing I was thinking is that it would be ok to run WOT for extended periods of time as long as there's a load on the engine that prevents it from hitting stupid rpms. I was mainly worried about after you hit max speed.

Bah, I guess, if I kill it, I can always get a half price replacement from traxxas, or better yet, upgrade ;)

let me ask yanddy what he has in his, it blows the tr2.5 away easily.

was an absolute screamer :D

NO MORE THAN 2 SECONDS IS GOOD ,Heat = Bad News, piston & sleave will expand !

Maxd out, is that no more than 2 seconds total? What if it takes more than that for me to get to top speed? Or is it no more than 2 secs at max rpms?

interesting you had problems with an SH engine we say SH=Shit house !lmao !lmao

yeah, that's what I thought. Although once it was replaced with a novarossi rod, nothing went wrong with it.

As a guide check the top of the piston at the end of the day when you've done a few WOT runs. If it's real dark almost dark then it's pretty lean. I've run at WOT with my mach 26 between 5 and 10 seconds and this baby's still pulling more power everytime I use. If you have it rich enough then going WOT ain't that bad. How I measure it is the how wide my smile is when the SAVAGE SCREAMS pass me..................I fookin loov it!!!! !lmao !lmao

Justo, ask me about my keyring next time I see you...I'll show you what happened to my O.S. CV-R .15 conrod when I had it at maximum rpm for too long ;)

WOT isnt a problem, but prolonged maximum engine speed for long periods of time is no good, period.

I always used to aim for no longer than 5-8 seconds at full engine speed.

If I was bashing hard with a group of friends, I'd richen up the mixtures just to be safe, and to ensure the engine doesnt peak out as high as it would normally.

Of course this doesnt matter for me anymore anyway, because I am an electric convert, but hopefully this helps all those into nitros ;)

Thats just to get extra fuel into the motor, to supposedly cool it down....in racing, u sometimes dont have time to blip the throttle, so it all depends on your tuning really..

balistc, nitro fumes a drug !evil You must be rehabiliated :p . I race both but cos it's winter, whitemans closed till sept. I think that having a rich setting is both good for bashing and for racing. You tend to be WOT most of the time when your bashing. And if you're racing, with 30 to 45 min mains, you don't want to flame out in the middle of the race :(
