I used the venom speedo during the speed runs & found it to be very good ,I think D'LUX runs with one in his savage. But having a choice i would by a hand held temp gun :)

The only thing about a temp gun is that it's one more thing I have to carry with me....

Yer i know ,again if the speedo is any inducation of quality it would be safe to say the temp meter is going to be good as well. The speedo is very accurate . :)

I got an infra red thermometer from dick smiths for $50.....Works well so far, even has a laser pointer so your sure to take the temp from the right spot and not the cooling fins......being an extra thing to carry is not a prob cause it fits in my pocket easy...its about half the size of a mobile phone but a little bit thicker...
Just to clarify I have the Venom fail safe. I have had zilch problems with the fail safe. Haven't heard about this combo unit. Is it one single unit that does both or is it two separate units sold as a combo?
i have this DVD burner in my PC and i highly recommend it.

I stole a dse thermocouple device from work. dick smith, digital display, like a multimeter, but with two temp probes coming off it. you can measure temp A, temp B, or the difference between temp A and temp B..
i see on the dse web page they are $100. score. it was sitting in the techo room, not working. i opened it, replaced the 9V battery, presto, thanks for the digital temp instrument, fools.

I had one on my savvy and it was a piece of shit, the thing would only go about 15-20 meters before it cut in and applied the brake, i swapped it with a standard one i had and the problem went away, it is on its way back to venom now.
The temperature was also incorrect as far as im concerned, i would tune it to run smooth and change gear and it would show between 150 and 200c if you richened it up it would run like shit and the temp was still around 130c.
From what I have heard from a few people is that you tune the engine so it runs smooth and changes gear when ist supposed to not by temperature, I personally dont like the temp tuning method, i have been tuning mine by running it up and then slowly fattening it up until it runs rough and/or will not upshift, I then lean it out until the shift point is good and the truck is running smooth whilst still blowing some smoke, I have tuned both my 25 and my 28 this way and have had no troubles with either of them
