Hey guys , so heres the go , last month i purchased a Hobby King 2.4Ghz Rx/ Tx which was about $30 delivered
After using it for a few days , i actually was amazed at how great it was in terms of range / size / price compared to the Spektrum units we are so used to .
I mentioned these combos to "Incredible Serious" whos a member here as he has as many cars ( if not more ) than me and told him this is going to be his best alternative to piss off 500 remotes and use just 1 and then he mentioned to me this transmitter that could possible be compatible which had a full LCD display and was 3 channel .
I thought for $80 lets give it a go so i did and man how impressed i am .
First impressions on opening the box were good , it was nicely made with a great design , plastic was moulded well , no cheap looking edges , very nice feel on the throttle and the steering was PERFECTLY smooth and centred back to 0 perfectly with no play or slack . Built very well . THere was a scroll wheel with a push to enter button on it that manoeuvred around the menu system excellently
I popped some batteries in it and weighed in ... 600g on the nose and after using the M11 for most of my life thats almost a kg , this was pure bliss on the lightness
ok , power up time , switched it on and was hanging to see this display and it definitely didn't disappoint . The dot matrix display was clear and crisp ... even displaying a little buggy on the screen hehe .
1 thing i did was de solder the antenna off the module and drill it through the top of the tx then run the wire back through the back of the tx and solder it back into the module ( you will need to know bit about electronics to do it as its not an easy process )
Now for the performance . This unit comes with the Eurgle 2.4Ghz receiver but it is absolutely 100% identical to Hobby Kings $8 2.4Ghz receiver so this is the 1 im testing it with .
First thing you will notice bout the receiver is size , they are TINY , in fact a 20cent Piece is larger as can be seen in the photo . The height of the receiver is also Tiny , stack 3 x coins on top of each other and its still smaller than that ... hard to believe .
Distance .... As i mentioned earlier , ive been running M11 on spektrum for a long time now and only just manage to do my street which is exactly 80 meters before it starts glitching and having a mind of its own , on testing this Eurgle system , i did my street plus AT LEAST an extra 30 meters , in fact it could have gone further but it got to a stage i could not see the car anymore as it was just a dot on the road so the range is amazing and once again , the RX only cost $8AU .... how is this possible .
The servo im running is a digital servo and the speed was spot on and the resolution was as smooth as riding an escalator with no jumps or jitters what so ever .
Going back to the transmitter , the 3rd channel is a button on the rear so its just a full left full right 3rd channel but im working on putting a pot in place of it to see if i can actually get control over that channel which i do believe will work , im 99% sure in fact its just going to be about finding the correct value pot to use
THe remote does have the usual features of trims , reversing etc but it also has 8 model memory , model names , End point adjustments , Individual key programming , Throttle speed , steering speed , ABS , ARC .
Ive attached photos so you can have a look but all in all , these things are frikkin awesome value for money .
Im keeping the M11 for my top of the line stuff but ive ordered 40 x receivers from Hobbywing for EVERYTHING else as the old school rx / tx is all going .
