Hey guys , so heres the go , last month i purchased a Hobby King 2.4Ghz Rx/ Tx which was about $30 delivered

After using it for a few days , i actually was amazed at how great it was in terms of range / size / price compared to the Spektrum units we are so used to .

I mentioned these combos to "Incredible Serious" whos a member here as he has as many cars ( if not more ) than me and told him this is going to be his best alternative to piss off 500 remotes and use just 1 and then he mentioned to me this transmitter that could possible be compatible which had a full LCD display and was 3 channel .

I thought for $80 lets give it a go so i did and man how impressed i am .

First impressions on opening the box were good , it was nicely made with a great design , plastic was moulded well , no cheap looking edges , very nice feel on the throttle and the steering was PERFECTLY smooth and centred back to 0 perfectly with no play or slack . Built very well . THere was a scroll wheel with a push to enter button on it that manoeuvred around the menu system excellently

I popped some batteries in it and weighed in ... 600g on the nose and after using the M11 for most of my life thats almost a kg , this was pure bliss on the lightness

ok , power up time , switched it on and was hanging to see this display and it definitely didn't disappoint . The dot matrix display was clear and crisp ... even displaying a little buggy on the screen hehe .

1 thing i did was de solder the antenna off the module and drill it through the top of the tx then run the wire back through the back of the tx and solder it back into the module ( you will need to know bit about electronics to do it as its not an easy process )

Now for the performance . This unit comes with the Eurgle 2.4Ghz receiver but it is absolutely 100% identical to Hobby Kings $8 2.4Ghz receiver so this is the 1 im testing it with .

First thing you will notice bout the receiver is size , they are TINY , in fact a 20cent Piece is larger as can be seen in the photo . The height of the receiver is also Tiny , stack 3 x coins on top of each other and its still smaller than that ... hard to believe .

Distance .... As i mentioned earlier , ive been running M11 on spektrum for a long time now and only just manage to do my street which is exactly 80 meters before it starts glitching and having a mind of its own , on testing this Eurgle system , i did my street plus AT LEAST an extra 30 meters , in fact it could have gone further but it got to a stage i could not see the car anymore as it was just a dot on the road so the range is amazing and once again , the RX only cost $8AU .... how is this possible .

The servo im running is a digital servo and the speed was spot on and the resolution was as smooth as riding an escalator with no jumps or jitters what so ever .

Going back to the transmitter , the 3rd channel is a button on the rear so its just a full left full right 3rd channel but im working on putting a pot in place of it to see if i can actually get control over that channel which i do believe will work , im 99% sure in fact its just going to be about finding the correct value pot to use

THe remote does have the usual features of trims , reversing etc but it also has 8 model memory , model names , End point adjustments , Individual key programming , Throttle speed , steering speed , ABS , ARC .

Ive attached photos so you can have a look but all in all , these things are frikkin awesome value for money .

Im keeping the M11 for my top of the line stuff but ive ordered 40 x receivers from Hobbywing for EVERYTHING else as the old school rx / tx is all going .

I had one,
there are no words to describe how rubbish it was in a racing situation ..
you will have "lots of fun" getting to work on the the other model settings
i did it , so its not totally impossible !!! dont give up and resist the urge to smash the thing in a thousand pieces with a hammer ..

revsinc, spot on, it also has issues running a different set of paramaters for a different receiver, and the tx seems to work with some AA batteries and not others.

I think the basic GT-2 Hobbywing is awesome, this Eurgle GT-3, sorry, didn't like it at all!

I have this remote and accidentally deactivated the button beeps. I was also able to reset the remote. Now I cant turn on the beeps again. Got it lipoed too. Its handy with the usb connection as I can use it on Virtual Racing. It was between this or the DX3E but this won on more functions, ease of switching between receivers and of course price.

Got the beeps back!, in home menu press exit until speaker icon changes.

Forget about racing with the GT3. I know I suck in driving my Losi 8 but with this radio, I was like a two year old driving a mickey mouse RC. Its only for bashing.

I've got an older version, and my lil brother's got the newer one with the failsafe built into the receivers and for bashing a large fleet of cars in the yard and occasionally at the park it's they've been great. The menu and user interface is a little fiddly at first. Haven't had any loss of bind issues. But as for anything more than a bash I don't know.

I thought the GT3 wasnt hafl bad after reading though lots of reviews and that. It looks the goods.

Why is it that bad "22y"? Is the ms response bad compared to specktum and the known brands?

I heard of people racing with thesed radios and going good with them?

mines still going awesome , in fact i seriously trust it more than my Spektrum as i DEFINATELY 100% get more range .

i do only use mine for bashing though but in saying this ive got receivers in some high end gear and they run faultlessly

Hanging to get the conversion done on the 3PK though to run these receivers :)

If you were to race with that HK remote do you think you will feel the ms response time compared to the high end remotes?

i used to race 1:5 but that was before the 2.4 spektrum era and havnt raced since so cant compare racing now to back then but i can say that i was running my M11 to control about 15 cars all on Spektrum but only using it for the bling factor now , i way prefer these HobbyKing receivers with the Beurgle TX once again for their range and clean signal.

I am POSITIVE most will disagree with me here now but my opinion is that for me it works better , i dont believe its my area or surroundings where i use my stuff as i vary all the time but M11 , DX3S and even Losi 2.4 ( and i use all 3 ) seem to glitch for me .

come on boys , start the bagging session on me now lol

I raced it in Bayswater and Canningvale. In Bayswater, I lost control the second I got on the stand, was ok in the pit I suspect the so called futaba interference referred to in the forums. In Canningvale the steering was noticeably slow at the farthest part of the track. Anyway Im still keeping it as a spare if my GT3-B fails.

To RB: Ive read that the easiest mod is the Ko Propo Mars or Helios.

lol , if your good with soldering , tap off the little piezzo beeper and put a switch on that ... or desolder the frikkin thing all together lol ( did it on my M11 haha )
