Ok, Cleaned it up today (finally) so it's worthy of showing a couple of pics.

I should have taken a "before" pic cos this thing was FILTHY....driving after a *slight* sprinkle on freshly mown grass is a recipe for dirtyness.
I've ordered some new HPI Savage wheels/tyres as well as a body which should all arrive on Monday.

On the shopping list so far:
- New Bumpers
- New Arms
- New Skidplates
- Motorsaver Air Filter
- A set of stiffer springs
- Maybe some Progressive-2 Rockers
- Exhaust deflector (lost mine somewhere along the way)

Ok, went a bit crazy shopping at acehardwarehobbies.com. They've got cheaper prices than tower for everything I wanted.
I ordered:
- New suspension arms front and rear
- Set of stiffer springs
- Front and rear skid plates
- Body clips (I have absolutely none!)
- Progressive 2 rockers
- Set of red aluminium suspension pushrods
- 14T clutch bell (compensate for the slightly larger HPI tyres I'm getting)
- New ez start wiring harness (broke a connection on the old one, cheap enough to get a brand new one)
- New front and rear bumpers
- Head protector for TRX2.5R
- Aluminium hex hubs
- Exhaust deflector (so my rear bumper doesn't get all the gunk)
- Wheel nuts (spares are always handy)
All up, about US$140 worth. That's probably less than half what I'd pay if I could find everything locally.
My wheels/tyres and body better show up tomorrow! My Revo is getting cold sittin' around naked all day!

OK, just finished my quick paintjob. One of my worst so far I reckon. Perth RC didn't have any decent masks/stickers and I couldn't be assed going anywhere else to look.

I was impressed with the proline body. It had all the bits marked out where I had to cut. The body is very tough so cutting with scissors was painful.

I noticed though that the distance between the front and rear holes was a bit much. Ended up having to make the holes bigger to accomodate.

hehe, looks nice... but no matter how hard you try... you just cant polish a turd :P
as far as revo's go thats a nice looking shell. even better when you say it was a quick job.
im going to go home and hug my mini-t's after work :P

hey that was *your* turd your talking about :D
Now you got a whole bunch of little droppings ;)

hehe notice the WAS :P
the revo is great for what it is, but after the fun of a mini electric and the awesome sight of a 1/6 scale 2 stroke the revo sort of fails. its a great spot for inbetween the two for sure. its quicker than the FG MT and the traveller over small distances (over all top speed they would eat it alive) and the revo is more impressive than a mini-t to look at (again the mini t would pwn it in a race) and nitro is always more impressive sight and smell to an electric.
i like the revo, i like what you have done with that revo, it looks so funky and that new shell is a f_cking winner. quick paint job my ass, that looks great

I really wanted more silver and a heap of white but couldn't find decent masks. That mini-t body took me longer :P
I can't wait til I blow the engine. Gonna chuck in an OS (rather than the RB everyone does) for controllable power.

.18tz? or larger?
go for something hell sexy... like a jet engine :P
justo316
07-06-2005, 04:56 PM
nah, I think it's an OS 18 TM that is a straight drop in? Not interested in having to mod the chassis. RB 323 (something like that) is the big block everyone else uses cos it comes with mounts/exhaust I think, but I believe there is such a thing as TOO much power. Which is the reason I buggered off my mamba.

lol, i used the mamba software link to adjust the throttle curve and even the braking curve.
can exagerate it to have a "turbo" boost feeling from 2/3rd throttle onwards.
is insanely huge power, but that usb link makes it so much easier to have a useable motor in such a small car.
justo316
07-06-2005, 05:13 PM
That's what mine was like! It felt like there was turbo lag all the time. My Beast raptors would easily out accelerate a mamba off the line which is why I preferred them. Nowhere to run them at mamba top speeds.

i have plenty of places to run at top speed... just find im out of radio range too quick some times :P

I cant see further than 10m ahead of me so I tend not to drive so far away.

07-06-2005, 05:28 PM
shit, i have bad eye sight but not that bad.
prescription sunnies and some good glasses for outside help me a bit... but damn man 10m :S
how do you go with the revo? bigger target to see i guess?
justo316
07-06-2005, 05:33 PM
Vision isn't *that* bad. I can see, but I wouldn't be able to pass a driving test ;) I had to cheat to make sure they didnt force me to wear glasses. But yeah, revo is a nice big target for me to see. Rear exhaust helps with direction too :D
opAsx
07-06-2005, 05:44 PM
lol the blue smoke helps to track a moving target :P
maybe get one of those flags you see on the bikes :P

Maybe I'll wire up some super bright LEDs. That'd look cool if you can see them in the daylight!

I'm toying with the idea of an onboard camera too. All the overseas hobby shops I use seem to carry them. Dunno how they work though.

we were using a 2.4GHz wireless camera a mate had on his brothers helicopter.
got some pretty damn good crash footage :)
the quality was viewable but not the best.
he only paid $60 for the little kit so its not so bad i guess.
range was to about 130m and we just hooked the inputs to a digital vid cam and recorded the 20 mins of combined flight/crash we got for the day :P

can't be bothered. Need to sort out a new pair sometime but they're expensive.

** First Hop Up **
Not much of a hop up really. I got some red aluminium pushrods for the suspension. They're supposed to weigh a bit less and be a bit stronger... I got the whole set cos one of the stock ones was bent :P

justo316
18-06-2005, 03:31 AM
At the same time, I changed my springs to a slightly harder set, as well as installing the next level up in progressive rockers (p2).
Took me bloody 2 hours all up! I was trying to do it without having to remove other stuff but in the end that caused more problems. Still learning all the little tricks to doing things quick on this truck.
Anyway, now I have a properly working suspension that's setup a bit firmer than before. I really can't tell. But it's not like I've been able to drive it round much lately.
Anyway, a close up of those red bits....

Next on the list is to replace the ezstarter with a new one as well as the wiring harness as it's a little frayed I noticed. Will probably leave the suspension arms for now in case I break them or get bored again.
Also gonna gear down one tooth on the clutch bell to compensate for the bigger HPI tyres.
And I just found out tonight that Traxxas have released red aluminium tube upgrades for the steering and toe links. Must buy ASAP!
Justo come race it up at whiteman Sunday 17th July. I'm trying to get as many MT's up there as I can.
