Yes... i saw star wars on the w'end, I fkn loved it. WAY better than the last two, loads of action, with great humor as well (like yoda's antics, and the lame comments some of the clone droids make)..
General grievous was fkn awesome, that is one bad-ass mf'er.. loved the human heart/eyes, and that kreepy limp/cough/cloak he has... truly excellent character. The bit when he unleashes the four sabers! fwah! hardcore. I think they shoulda made that fight scene more difficult for Obiwan... It was very "wow" esp the saber work by general, when he fired up, it made me wonder how good a human/droid could be at the saber? hrmm
Anakin turned to the darkside, JUST right.. and burned like a bitch, perfectly. it was a very touching moment when obiwan warned him not to jump to the highland to fight him.. and paid by having his arm/legs chopped off. fool. it was a very teary moment as obiwan fully let out his feelings to Anakin about him turning, etc. Anakin was very very evil, and it was awesome, he played it so well. It hit me hard in the chest as the two let out their feelings throughout the turning period. And poor Padme... :(
The bit where they put Anakin in the darth vader suit is just excellent. As soon as he starts breathing in it! CLASS ! damn! The close up detail of the costume was 100% perfect compared with the old school costume, the detail... damn. I think the camera work was perfect for this scene
I'm a bit of a hardcore starwars fan... (i have loads of original figurines, ships, other models)... I liked this film.
Some of the other excellent things about the film (no jar jar binks speaking), some of the battleships were NOT computer animated, some were legitimate models. some of the Wookies (inc chewbacca) were REAL not animated.. among other things, I think it's excellent that Lucas came 'back to earth' with his Star Wars realism.
The sound matched the visuals very well, the old school starwars sound effects made me feel like I was back watching the originals, but with that awesome THX touch. I must have lost count at around 15 original sound effects..
The opening scene to this film was mind blowing. I had a grin for at least 30 mins. I guess I enjoyed this film more than the last two, because I'm an 'action' person... the last two went from kiddy film (epI) to love story (epII), not everyone liked them, but they had to be made like that I guess...
then enter Ep III, the most anticipated movie in over two decades for me :)
If it wasn't your cup of tea, I guess you need to come to realise how difficult it is to make the films as Lucas did (ending with the centre of a story).. i think Ep III blended the new gen Ep's with the old gen Ep's just right... he took very careful care to make the series mesh. Congrats to him..
the last scene, with the Death Star... hahaha YES! It's pay back time for the Dark side baby!
I'm so firing up Ep IV, V, VI asap.... (as soon as i get my new THX setup at home) hehehe
