This is listed as one of the attractions at the Festival of Speed to be held at Barbagallo Raceway (featuring Mark Webber driving his F1 car) on the 28 Novemeber on their website at http://www.festivalofspeed.com.au/program:

"RC Off-road Buggy Racing
They may be 1/8, 1/10 or even 1/12 scale, but nothing packs more excitement into smaller package than remote control off-road buggy racing. Taking huge jumps and accelerating near as fast as their full size brothers, these are not toys, but a full size motorsport. Come along to the specially set out off-road racing course and experience the fun with all the family"

Anyone know anything about this?

This is correct.
RRC is to hold a club type day at the event.
The obvious issue is keeping an eye on your precious gear with 50 000 people walking around, while trying to make the clubby worth the $50 entry fee, since we wont have time to watch any motorsport events.

On the plus side the Festival of Speed should be a great spectator day out.
