Their one more club member WCMRC forgot to ask whether the club should continue being a member in WAORMA.:(
Back on the topic
This is an event between the Bunbury and Carine clubs. Both clubs have been nice enough to extent an invitation to all the 1/10th and 1/8th off road electric drivers to compete at this IC Shield event.
Come on drivers, support this event. Treat it as a practice event for the state titles which will be held at the Bunbury club later in the year. :fonzie:
I hope Bunbury is going to hold the States????

Yeah must of been a typo. IC is on Sunday 29th of May.
Obz, There is no "camping" inside the track fence, as this is a workplace.

plenty of accom in bunno though simon. Last year I camped at one of the 4 caravan parks down there forabout $20 also plenty of hotels.
Will be a great event as bunbury always is, as Boz stated members of all clubs welcome and of all driving standards is a good chance for laps before states and for a run on a different track rather than just one.
I'm working so I won't be there. Has Keysie got his tipping board up yet?

mike i would say mine was a fair assumption to make going on the entries, makes no diff to me how many people attend i would still be going down for a run on my own anyway. I am committed to making waorma work this year and trying quite hard to get old and new involved if you choose cheap shots on the internet like usual that is entirely up to you doubt they will accept your nomination in seniors class till you grow up though
mike i would say mine was a fair assumption to make going on the entries
Therein lies the problem statement. In your mind it is a fair assessment, however people’s reality is very different. Some (like me) have family commitments and unless there is a babysitter present to watch the kids, then they can’t go. I bet if you held an interclub on a Friday night then you would get a big turnout. Not really practical outside the metro area but that is one of the problems. Have you thought of putting on a ‘juniors only’ class for stock? Maybe that would get a few more people interested, as they usually just see the usual crop of guys taking all the tin cups home. It’s a long way to Bunbury for not much reward. And before you say it’s for the experience, not everyone sees it that way. In this state we need to drive a return to youth racing and developing the juniors or the only ones racing will be the seniors, because no development was done. I’m sure a bunch of 10 year olds racing against each other for a title would be more fun to them than getting beaten by a bunch of middle aged men.
You also don’t acknowledge that members of West Coast are ineligible for the interclub titles. In a year of unrest, WAORMA could extend an invitation to any club member that want to support WAORMA to race for the titles. If they come and pay their money, then they should be just as entitled to race for glory. Since half the money goes to the club and half goes to WAORMA (or so is my knowledge), then it’s no different to before. The racers are still supporting the events, the host club and WAORMA. It should just mean that the host clubs can only be WAORMA members to get the benefit of hosting these prestigious (or should be anyway) events. WAORMA could even approach MORBC about hosting an event under lights on a Saturday night and see if that flies. Then the people who can get away at night can come and race.
Have you thought of having some sort of feature event for short course racers? Since this is the biggest and easily the fastest growing segment in RC at the moment, we need to nurture these racers and develop events for them to keep the clubs strong. Kids also love these cars and can get racing for relatively little money and still make a go of it. We are also now seeing short course racers make tentative steps into other classes, so this is a good way to get new racers in other classes.
I’ll ignore the rest of your drivel, just wanted to address the point you made about why you think no-one turns up. RC needs some new ideas and fresh thinking to progress, which is what I was trying to point out by showing your comments as being negative and unproductive. It’s up to you how you take it, but I want to see race meetings with 150 people like we see in other parts of Aus.

Heres an article I wrote and have sent to racing lines about this event.
Bunbury Inter Club Shield
By Rob Thomas
The 2011 West Australian Off Road Model Association (WAORMA) Interclub series between the Bunbury and Carine Clubs got off to an exciting start at Bunbury on the 29th of May, with some enthralling racing and some exciting new talent upstaging more experienced rivals.
With a good turnout of drivers over 7 divisions it was set to be a great day with 2 rounds of qualifying and 3 finals the format.
Qualifying
Local hot short Gavin Suckling set the early pace in 4wd open, the only driver with two 15 lap runs he took TQ from Chris Bozich’s Durango and Rob Thomas’ B44.1. The “Rubbings Racing” seems to be the motto of short course trucks and they have taken the WA race scene by storm and dominant driver Keri Macdonald driving his X Factory proved untouchable in both qualifying taking pole comfortably from Simon Simpson and Kevin Harvey. Although down on numbers 2wd Stock had the crown cheering on as 5 year old Trent Robins made his debut race meeting and put his ageing Losi XXX in 3rd spot marginally behind local debutant Andrew Moss and the always reliable David Wilson. Rob Thomas showed the field a clean pair of heels in 2wd open taking pole from regular stock driver Keri Macdonald’s Schumacher and veteran Daniel Robins. Truck open had a mix of experience and people who had borrowed trucks and regular driver Kai Jaeger took full advantage and took pole from Daniel Robins and Colin Simpson all in T4’s.
Finals
Suckling and Bozich put in some spectacular racing during the 3 4wd mains with lead changes lap after lap. Local track knowledge proved the difference, with Suckling able to take out all 3 mains from Bozich with Thomas a distant third. Keri Macdonald continued his dominance from in short course taking all 3 finals easily with some excellent racing for the minor placings Simon Simpson prevailed with second Kevin Harvey third and thirteen year old Fabio Silvi excelling in fourth. Top qualifier David Wilson easily accounted for the inexperienced 2wd stock fields with debutants Moss and Trent Robins filling the minor placings. The 2wd open finals provided arguably the closest racing with three different winners from as many mains, local Suckling again proving too strong this time over Thomas and Daniel Robins third. Daniel Robins took out the first two truck mains and sat out the third in a dominant display, consistent David Wilson was second with “part time” truck driver Colin Simpson third ahead of Kai Jaeger who had more parts breakages than he cares to remember.
All in all a great days racing and good time had by all and an excellent start to an exciting racing season out west.
