Iphone control the world it seems doesnt it hahaha .
Hey , in all honesty though and i dont want to side topic from this thread but i think there may be other issues in todays day and age of RC and its something called public liability .
Cars are getting bigger , more powerfull and most importantly FASTER .
I know at the flying field , my membership is around $200 a year , in that there is a $150 fee for insurance incase i do damage to property or more importantly a person .
2 weeks ago i rammed a 1:5 into a fence at full throttle and it went through the fence like butter , if it was a car or person , i would have been STUFFED as the car would have had MAJOR panel damage and the person i hit could have been killed .
Im wondering when it will become law that even cars can only be used at the track with membership because of the stuff thats coming out

Considering that most 1/8 guys gear for 50-55mph on 4s Lipo, 100mph on 6s isn't that much of a stretch, hell RB and I could probably do it with our Ofna's with little effort (Castle 1515 1Y Motor, 6s Lipo, big pinion) but where would we run it?
The shell and TX/RX are intriguing though.

thank hobby headquarters the importer for that price, also to thank for the axial high prices as well.

$1,149 (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBXDS**&P=ML) at Tower, minus $250 with int Discount. You;'d land one here for less than a grand....

Hmmmm .... NEXT
$1500 they can suck the left and the right one ... there is simply no justification for that price for plastic and an electric motor
remotebandit
07-12-2011, 02:43 PM
$1000 is still starting to get justifyable , $800-$900 is realistic as youd assume $350 for the motor esc combo , $100 for lipo and $450 for the plastic that is the car ... actually no , ill allow for $1G
You'd easily get a dodgey 1/8th buggy into that speed territory, but dont try and turn it. lol
No if I could think of a place and reason to have this then I would, but I seriously dont think the local PC's would like a 3am high speed run down the freeway.

Well it looks like Stewy has talked me into getting one ... GRRRRRRRR you Bastard Stew :P
Has anyone seen under the shell ( apart from that 1 photo on Traxxs website ) .
Im hoping its not an off road type converted to onroad like the 1:8 Ofna as i know their pretty much point and shoot but id also want it to handle pretty good at the 60-70kph range

Bah, you just can't handle the GTP, so maybe the plastic fantastic is more your thing :)

Not 100% true. Axial are expensive because Axial dont care about selling to the rest of the world. Their prices are based on the RRP price that Axial list on their website, which is completely meaningless to anyone inside the USofA.
The price you pay for a XR10 is pretty similar every where in the world except for the USofA.
Back on topic. I have the dealer press release here if anyone is interested. I dont no it is any different to what you have seen already. The only thing I see in it is that the X01 comes with everything you need to do 100+ suggesting you dont need the iphone and has a little info about the TQi radio.
RB - This would look good sitting on the shelf next to the Traxxas Spartan which is finally making its 2nd an appearence in Aust on Friday.

that controller is prob worth a bit even if the actual housing looks a little naff, for apple to allow anything to connect to the iphone port and be controlled by software needs to approved by apple, and i'm pretty sure involves some royalty fees as well, so you could prob wave good bye to a few hundred in that.

That's true, I'd look at the radio / Telem system on it's own, wondering when Maxamps packs will come out with a 200mph claim :)

Is it only me that thinkg the controller look sh!t, there are turning knob (not digital), the on-off switch look cheap and the ON light also. The plastic look plain with no texture.
Also the IPhone attachment look weak and like an afterthought. They might as well use Spekum DX3S (or others brand) for the telemetery function. It is probably cheaper and look more classy.
Although iPhone is popular, I think limiting to iPhone only will also loose some sale.
However, the body look spot on and sexy. Being a 1/7 scale also meant there is no way to get an alternate body....

100mph isn't as hard to reach as people think, but actually being able to run the car in a large enough area to reach it is. I needed a huge runout room to get to 90-95kph can't imagine the real estate I'd need to do 100mph

Just to give you an idea of the size of the motor in this thing, this is an Ezyrun 540 Brushless, next to a Castle Neu 1515 1Y (Savage Flux size motor) and a Castle 1717 1Y Motor (Traxxas XO-1 size)
