After getting into RC just last Christmas when my wife bought me a Duratrax Evader, constantly in the back of my mind was my pride and joy as a nine year old, my old Metro Bullet.
All my mates had Jet Hoppers and I longed to have one too.
Not known for their Christmas erm.... generosity, my parents finally gave in and bought me my first RC.
When I tore the paper off and found something other than a Jet Hopper, I felt totally ripped off. It wasn't until later I discovered this thing had not one but two motors... and all four wheels drove the thing. Hmmm.... but I cant do donuts like the other kids. :(
It was a bit of a love hate relationship with the Metro Bullet but then one day it died. I dont recount that day well... I was pretty distraught!
Anyway, at age 34 wife asks what would you like for Christmas. Ever the optimist, I scrawl through the Gumtree ads day after day waiting for someone to sell a 1/8 e-Truggy (my grown up dream ride)
To my amazement, 25 years on some guy is selling an 'as new in the box' Metro Bullet the same as my old one for $45!!! I couldn't have grabbed the phone quicker and pleaded with him not to sell it.
A few days later, me and Bullet are one again.
Happy little erm... kid
:))))
btw, it's damn near mint!!!
I know many of you will scratch your heads and ask why why why???? but to a kid in the hills who doesnt read magazines, watch much TV and really just hangs out in the bush, this thing was every bit as good to me as a gold tub RC10 or Original Losi buggy... maybe not quite the Hornet which at the time was the only other RC we knew about but hey, lets be realistic thats the 9 year old equivalent of a Bugatti Veyron Supersport.
Smiling all the way!!
Oh and thanks to a very good mate and fellow TA mentor Big Pete, I gots me a 1/8 Truggy!
Happy kid.
