View Full Version : EOI: Tamiya electric off road race day?
gday.
i would like to see expressions of interest for a Tamiya electric off road race day.
new and old tamiya buggys on a track.
i think something like this could prove to be very nostalgic if we see some old Hornets, Fox's, Hotshots, Supershots, Boomerangs, does anyone remember the over-developed Avante? we would also see some newer stuff such as the Baja King, Super Hornet, Gravel Hound and others.
any thoughts? any interest??

I'm keeping an eye on people getting retro cars. As soon as my XXX4 is finished I'll check it out again cos I WANT that re-release hornet dammit!

Not that it helps much (coz Im in Canberra) - but may soon have a Supershot and like Justo still want a Hornet - oh that and my eternal quest for a mint Hotshot...........all 4 nostalgia :-)

I recon a TA bash day would be great, but we need somwhere where there is tarmac to so us drifters can play. Otherwise I have a Tamiya buggy so whatever goes I'll be there.
this is becoming a long thread, which means we certainly have some interest.
team adrenaline's one year anniversary is coming up in october and perhaps we could put together a tamiya day as part of that celebration.
if any WA club commitee member is reading this and would be interested in holding a track day (a half day), id be MORE than happy to see what we can arrange together.
all are feel free to PM me any ideas, suggestions, etc too!

I just dug my Super Hornet out of the depths of the garage.Gave it a bit of a clean up and a check over.I wasnt too hopefull that it would run as it had been hibernating for at least 10years + one move.Gave one of the batteries a quick charge and slapped it in.She took off like a rocket, god its good to have her running again.Needs some new tyres and a few other bits but that will be fixed next week.I will have to look for some hop-ups as well.

im ignorant of the whole old school tamiya deal, are there many hop-ups for the hornet?

I am not too sure about the hop-upsmyself.After abit of surfing I found some motors that will fit.I will have to find a esc before getting the new motor though.

you could more than likely mix and match some of the stuff from the other tamiya buggies. i have the DF-02 Desert storm(?) and ive used bits off of tt-01s and other buggies on it.

Not sure if this is the right spot for this.I was thrashing my Super Hornet around the factory at work and got a bit sick of the slapping sound when landing after a jump.So I decided to compress the rear springs about half way and put a big cable tie above the spring to hold it in place.I gave it a good run and jump after the mod(hack) and not a slap to be heard. So the lesson learnt is if you dont have a spare Grasshoper rear end to get the mounts off use some cable ties. !super
Sometime ago one friday nite at bayswater, someone had this tamiya monster truck that they were racing. If anyone knows what and whose it was, please let us know. I was marshalling when this person was racing and I was surprised how it could keep up with some of the race buggies. Me and my mate that was also marshalling were thinking of getting one cos it looked fun.
