Yep, they are no longer allowed to ship HPI parts to Australia. The general idea behind this restriction is the fact that the new local Australian Distro, Hobbies Australia negotiated it, so they would be able to keep some of the HPi owners from buying cheaper overseas. From a LHS point of view it's a good done deal, but from prospective buyers like myself... I will be looking for the cheapest place still. Ebay I guess. I just know HPI parts will be damn expensive here.

I dont know why all hobby shops dont at least have an ebay store.
MRC here in Canberra does (HPI mostly) and they probably sell more on ebay than they do in there store.
Which HPI parts do you need? I can give you the link if you want. I have NO idea if there prices are competative though because I dont have a HPI car

check my email to HPI
Ok,
Firstly i'd like to start off with saying how great you products are. especially the Savage line of trucks.
In my R/C group in Australia, 82 members where 35 own Savages, we are finding it quite unbelievable that we have to spend 3 times as more on parts then in the US. For example :
Tower hobbies sells 52T, 49T and hopefully the new 47T Spurs for $3.89US which equates to $4.98AUD. Now when you take a look at both your Australia distributors they both charge $17.95. Now thats a 360% mark up price compared to the US.
Can any explanation be given on these mark ups?
Regards
Peter

All good...
eBay, Savage Central, and many other online stores sell HPI parts....ebay is the best though, always cheapest!!!
Towers is way overpriced nowadays anyway..

Yeah, Tower is getting real pricey.
Buying overseas for me is only worth it if their is a big saving.
I would rather have the parts straight away from my LHS even if it is $5-10 more.
Although I did score some stuff from america Ebay the other day.
I got a bag of unopened geniune Thunder Tiger parts, good stuff like front knuckles and read hub carriers, for AUS$20 delivered.
I checked the prices here in australia and I would have spent $150 getting the same parts.
Now I have almost enough spares to fix any breakages.
