To those getting new knuckles and C's it is worth while to replace the flange pipe bushing at the same time if you do not already have metal ones installed.

Steel over Plastic, Steel always wins.

The one that come with the kit are metal, but similar to those supplied with the servo (thin wall tube fold into flange bush, not very strong). The one that cam sug is machined da best.

you mean to tell me that seeing 6 honchos all the same in a line is better than seeing a custom 8x8 truck rolling down 20m dam wall and exploding at the bottom into little pieces.

I think anyone that was there to see it would have been stoked that they could witness it.
I was.

Just picked the box up this arvo.
I am on call for the next 9 days/nights so no guarantee of me being home but this weekend should be ok in the morning to pick up but please ring me before calling just incase I'm out on a fault.
ps; put my hi knuckles and chubs/cvd's etc and find that the long steering arm needs to be about 8mm longer at a rough guess otherwise the wheels turn in on themselves and I tried swapping sides but no difference.
I will pm my number to you.

And 4 screws to install the hubs to the carriers... Would of thought they would include them with the hub carriers.

Stewbaru

Didn't you take the screws out of the axles before you installed the hubs?
Or use long grubs screws, like those supplied with the Axial rear lockouts.

highlucks
24-01-2012, 11:27 AM
Knuckle to C hub Stewy.

Because the new C is aluminium you need a metric screw not the plastic self tapper that comes with the stock units.

Carl surely you have a four M3 x 12mm screws to suit this job?

Carlman
24-01-2012, 11:32 AM
Suprisingly not cam... Shits me aye haha

Well if you get stuck I have some for you.

Time to buy a screw kit. This one is pretty good but you will never use the 2mm screws. Link (http://www.rcscrewz.com/product_info.php/rcparts/bulk-screw-kits/p/rm005-racers-450-piece-metric-kit-for-crawlers/cPath/60/products_id/3373)

Also check out fastener-express (http://www.fastener-express.com/) where you can just buy what you want in various metals. That's where I got the blue aluminium ones for the Thing

If the pricing is good. I would suggest grabbing

All M3

8mm x 20
10mm x 20
12mm x 20
16mm x 20
20mm x 20
25mm x 20
35mm x 10

M3 lock nut x 50 as spares if you are planning a build at some point make it 100

M4 Lock nut x 12-> Spare wheel nuts

That will pretty much cover every bolt you need for an SCX10

colgout
24-01-2012, 03:14 PM
Carl, From the Dingo manual, the screw in question is M3x10, if the ali knuckle is thicker, then M3x12 would be ok. Get both just in case.

I can say LV Veneables price is not the cheapest, but they have most of the stuff you need. To get what Cam is suggesting, I guess you better get a screw kit. It would cost more than $100 get get all the screws cam is suggesting.

Carlman
24-01-2012, 07:32 PM
Cam I'll be sure to make sure they are included ; )

Dave, cheers for that Mate they did end up needing 10mm and venables only carry 12mm, easy fix though.

Is anyone having trouble with the bushes seeming too short? Mine, when installed, do not protrude through the knuckle subsequently binding when the screw is installed...

Stewbaru
24-01-2012, 10:18 PM
If you're getting M4 nuts, best get flanged nuts, the normal nuts can dig into plastic wheels....
