....compared to every other forum around. To give you an example, here's a question I asked on the Traxxas Revo forum that gets heaps of traffic and is mostly populated by american tossers.
I asked:
" Any JR XR3 users get reverse working?
tried searching, but it doesn't let you search for 3-letter words (xr3).
I'm trying to get reverse working with my JR XR3 radio.
The problem I see is that the 3rd channel doesn't work the way it needs to work. When you toggle the switch, the servo goes either linearly (small increments, too slow to use reverse), or it goes form one extreme to another and when you let go of the switch, it centers.
The revo needs the servo to go from extreme to extreme, but without centering afterwards.
Just something to consider cos I've read alot where people just recommend radios based on whether they have 3 channels or not.
If somone has got this to work, please correct me."
The responses I got:
#1 assumes I'm using a different radio system than the one I am asking about.
#2 says the answer is in the manual (which it isn't).
#3 gives me a completely nonsensical/irrelevent "answer".
#4 takes #1's advice and gives me a solution based on that (useless to me).
#5 agrees with #4 and gives me sh!t for not reading the manual (I have, and which again, doesn't have the answer to my problem).
Absolutely infuriating.

Back to fixing the Revo -
I assume the reverse toggle is on channel 3. Can you change the CH3 centre so that its set for forward drive. then set the amount of servo travel to allow for reverse?
I am guessing (Just trying to help) :)

on my XS3, I believe you need to set (in the setup) the aux channel to "P2". there's three options 0 (for nothing), LN (for linea) and P2 (for extreme left to right).
Then I think you need to set GRP (i think) which is grip button c, to something, I think sb (steer/brake) or something.
I was playing with this idea trying to setup 4ws on the TLT with chan 3. I failed.
when you press grip button C, the servo would go all the way to one side, and stay there. when you press the button again, it will go all the way to the other side, and stay....
unsure for your radio though, but must be simular sort of thing.

Nah, on the XR3, the 3rd channel is a bugger to work. It's a 3-position switch. It goes left/right depending on you holding the switch. When you let go, it re-centers. that's the problem.
You can set it up to stay in forward gear, but then if you want to use reverse, you have to hold the switch while you're reversing, which is a three handed job on this radio.
I think the XR3i and onwards models have a 2-position function. I think this is what's needed cos the servo will move between two set values and stay there.
As an update, overnight I got about another 3 or 4 completely useless replies. I was >this< close to lettin rip with a bagful of obscenities and never visiting again.

My radio can do this, cos it has left, right, and center. I tried it the first time and it was a bit crap. It is *really* hard to use the grip button (the higher one on my radio) with your thumb and combine that with throttle use and concentrating on steering I ended up all over the place looking like a retard trying to drive it.
Now if you could use that switch to completely turn 4WS on/off, then that would be awesome.

Yeah, I never use it anyway. Just didn't like the idea that something wasn't working as it should if you know what I mean.
I'm gonna bugger it off for good and install the forward-only conversion. Saves weight as well as roatating mass. Should get a bit of a performance increase.
