Just got back from Ryper, what a great day. I won all 4 races in TT01 and didn't break anything, so I'm pretty happy. Anyone wanting to get into racing, TT01 is a great place to start and a heap of fun. hopefully I can have the same luck next time I race.

Dave, what's the limitations of running TT-01 class? I'm now seriously considering getting a TT-01 to get my r/c fix when it's too wet to race off-road. sick of missing out...

any stock motor? (27t)? or strictly silvercan/sport tune? and for the rest, anything goes? your tt-01 sounds setup perfect, with the gearing, take-off tyres, etc...

I'm keen again. sold my TB02 to 'born2drift', but might consider a TT-01 for ryper :) cheap fun racing.

problem with the TT-01R will be the price. the TT-01 (stock) you can get for SO cheap.. just check out ebay. even brand new kit's, etc. under $100 anyway..

I just saw the Ferrari 430 bodied TT-01 on the tamiya site, niiiiice! haha

must stop thinking about TT-01. must race my losi buggy and mini-t, nnngg nggg... race.. mneyaaa

silence! haha. we will see... at this point I'm spending up to get the BK2 ready for some off-road racing (if we ever get the chance to race! bloody... friggen, damnit)

Mini-T is completely ready. I'm extremely happy with it's performance at the mo. Havent even tried out my BK2 yet, need's a motor.

The rules seem to be very relaxed now that ryper has changed hands. You can only run the silver can or the sport tuned though. Any other mods seem to be ok. I guess the only thing I don't have is the bling shocks as mine are standard, but there is one guy who has those and it dosn't make any difference at ryper. I would suggest you get a better car though James as you are quite experienced at racing and you might find the TT01 a bit slow for what your used to.

I would deffinatly recomend the sport tuned, the diffence is very noticeable. In TT01 class you are only supposed to run up to 2400 batterys but no one ever checks and I run 3000s and so do most other drivers.

it was looking like a teamadrenaline 1-2 at ryper last sunday but then everything started to go wrong for me.

first race was awesome. close racing the whole time between me and dave. both of us having lengthy breaks from the track and getting the hang of things again. but dave outclassed me right out of the box. much smoother lines and stayed out of trouble.

i was all geared up for race 2 and things where going well untill i started to spin out at every other corner. something was broke :( !!!!111 and i scraped through the rest of the race. still managed 19 laps and dave won again with 21 laps.

i thought it was rear diff or a stuck bearing or something weird. took the back end all apart and couldnt see anything obviously broken. then i realised the front wheels where spinning freely. prop shaft wasnt moving and no diff action. pulled gbox apart to find the diff broken in half. sheared the long screw and had no way of repairing. so it was RWD for the final 2 races.

took some getting used to...car would spin very easily. had to go a bit easier on the throttle when coming out of corners. i think i still got 19 laps along with 2 other racers. dave got 20 laps along with the second place finisher.

race 4 didnt last very long for me. snagged one of rypers EVIL!!!!!!!!111 nails on the track and ripped out the back suspension. dog bone went AWOL and i had to pit. really dissapointing end to the day.

it was the 3rd time ive damaged the same area of the car. its the plastic suspension mount where the shaft goes into and the arms pivot on. mashed the LHS the first time...then RHS and managed to plastic weld both sides back together. this time RHS again so i been on the fone a bit today looking for parts. gotta make sure im ready to race on sunday....tis becoming very addictive.

big ups to dave for taking out all 4 races. and anyone who managed to get through that long ass rant...

...but wait...theres more! just in regards to tt-01 class and rypers classification system.

im running my tb-02 in the noveice "tt-01" class. yeah its a better car out of the box and costs a bit more. but once u add bearings/ali prop shaft/oil shocks and possibly adjustable turnbuckles to a tt-01....the cost is about the same and the performance is fairly close. its just that the tb-02 has all of this already.

sport tune is worth the money over a silvercan. i ran silvercan the first time out and was getting owned by a 10 y/o and his mum who had sports tunes. much much faster down the straight and they had a good lap on me by the end. got sport tune the next week and ended up winning the day [said 10y/o and mum weren't in attendance].

2 battery packs is all i use. charge em both up fully on sunday morning. then re-peak each pack before each race. they're cheap 3300mahs. gp cell 2400's would be just as good if they wanted to make us stick to the rules. but rypers isnt about that. not at the bottom end anyway.

everyone is just there to race and have fun. if ppl r obviously better then they r pushed to jump up a class. the owners have even lent a cpl of x-rayss to some promising young drivers so they can get into the novice stock class. this is another reason im liking my tb-02. it has enough tuning potential to let me race stock with a simple engine swap once im a better driver and learn more about taking advantage of the chassis.

once again recommend anyone who is keen and looking for a good day out with a great atmosphere to come check out ryper sundays. u wont be dissapointed.

ggggggggaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh so much typing...sorry guys....

Thanks buddy. The shocks don't seem to make much of a difference at ryper as my car handles well with the standard ones. I've only won one race meeting which was last week, there are a lot of fast cars and drivers out there. A few of my major competitors have moved up to stock class, I think I will too in a few months when I get a bit better.
