make your own :)
buy some cheap rims and glue ABS to it. then you can make more and more and more :)

hehe your not stupid :)
ABS is a type of plastic, much better than PVC for making drifting tyres.

Well you know PVC piping? it's pretty much exactly that, except it's black, and has WAY more grip than PVC :)
A mate of mine does up sets for all of us here, and sells em for like twenty bux a set....he pre cuts em and he also cuts a groove in the inner diameter - but towards the outside of the 'tyre' so that they seat nicely into the bead of the rim - this means you dont need glue ;) Sorry - cant explain for dogs balls -lol-
Just pop it on with some pressure, and it isn't going anywhere till u where it out or cut it off -lol-
this shot here KINDA shows the "abs tyre" - you can see the blue lines haven't yet worn away - fresh treads hehehe :)

holy smokes, i love the doriftu :P
$20 is pretty cheap for someone to make em up and have them fit so nice.

yeah - they slap right on - and they won't come off till i wear em right down -lol- It's good he started cutting those grooves tho - even when i glued em they still tended to come loose -lol-
But they last a long time :) One set will last me around 3-4 weeks or so with a major workout on the weekends, and a few bursts through the week, so pretty good :)

Good luck finding ABS. I looked everywhere and couldn't find any. And no one will say exactly where they get theirs :|
PVC doesn't work as well, but if you find some smooth concrete, it is awesome! Plus, you might be able to get it for free if you go to a plumbing store (I went to hugal and hoyle) and ask for only about a foot.

$20 is way too much for ABS. Your best bet is get some pollypipe from a retic store, a few metres will last you forever. Or go to bunnings get a metre of PVC for a few bucks and start on that, PVC is good to learn on because you need a lot of control.

PVC has SFA control compared to ABS ffs.
PVC is harder and doesnt give half the control a peice of ABS will. the ABS is a slightly softer plastic and allows the car to maintain some grip while drifting, where PVC will slide for ages and ages and offer fark all control to a novice.
the reason i said $20 for a premade set of ABS tyres is cheap is you go and find some ABS pipe... and if you find it check the price... proper ABS, not black poly pipe.
then get someone else to cut them "true" and put the groove in them for you.
hmmm $20 is seeming like a great price the more i think about it.

yeah - i find it's not so bad either :) They're cut real nice and smooth too - he even rounds the edges a fraction so they arent sharp -lol- And that groove he cuts is like - the best thing since sliced bread IMO -lol-

i managed to find polypipe from a retic place in melville but it was kinda thin and made the wheels look too small. the best stuff has the blue lines on it. ive heard ppl call it exactly that "blue line" pipe....i scabbed a cpl meters from the construction site over the fence. it was in their garbage pile and its awesome.
fits well w/out any gluing or groves. maybe add a few winds of tape to ur rims if it does start to slip. and its nice n chunky so the "tyres" look to scale. have hardly used em though since i started racing onroad. oh well.
