Working on a light setup for my 18t. Heres a first photo.
I cut the lights off my iwaver light kit and soldered on 2 16000mcd 5mm LEDs, pretty dman bright. because I didn't have a spare servo plug I hacked up a digital audio cable from a computers soundcard to fit the battery terminal on the reciever. Works well on 5v.

Gotta paint my shell and maybe make some reflective lightboxes for the frontal lights.

You mean like this?
Its a red plastic tube with 2 red LEDs in the ends, I will be replacing them with a longer tube and better LEDS (still using the stock low MCD LEDs)

Working on it! hehe need to make a trip to Dick Smiths to pick up some coloured LEDs, thinking of a green or blue, don't think they come in the 16000MCD variety, so 8000 should do the trick. That red tube is there to test what it looks like.

Is blacklight that purple light? Or is it the UV one that reacts with the paint only? UV paint would look pretty schwick.

blacklights are UV lights. they give off a purple tinge to white objects.
purple lights are purple lights :P
I have a fair bit of UV reactive paint left over from the sad days of being a computer nerd (liking the inside case bling)
there are also heaps of inexpensive UV paints you can get from craft shops now. really cheap, cheaper than you pay for the polycarbonate paints.
only problem is most of it looks shit when not exposed to UV.
go one better than UV, buy some of the temperature reactive paints. a mate has just had his fuel tank and helmet painted with a flame pattern on his harley. in the sunlight it starts to heat up and goes crazy green instead of the black it is in the cold.
