a small update on how i went...

"hmmm"

i certainly was consistant with 13 laps on each race that i completed, i had 2 races with battery probs - 1 which fried a 3000mah nimh. that hurts and will cost $38 to replace.

the big boys were pulling 15 laps so I certainly have room for improvement - ive been racing for almost 2 months now.

the weather was a shocker - 37 degrees in Sydney today which made for hot, sweaty and uncomfortable drivers and very, very hot-to-touch motors.

i think my charger has a sloppy peak detection, and its overcharging the batterys way too much before it detects a drop in voltage. i have a 2100mah nicad that has a died on the weekend also.

i beleive this can be fixed. ive connected my voltmeter to the charger and i will keep an eye on each charge and maybe next year buy myself a GUN-HO charger.

Nice work Matto20v!

I haven't raced in a while. Not enough spare time to devote a whole day to it.

The problem with our meets is that there are about 8 classes and they run in sequence so you have to stay the whole day (8-5). You feel like a tightass if you leave early because the track has to be packed up at the end.

you dont want to help pack up the track? hahaha.

at this place, drivers only pack up their own stuff and the commitee pack up the track - sweet arrangement to me ;)

this saturday is night racing and i LOVE it.

During the week our track is used as a car park for the nearby gym.

We have to 're-build' the barriers every week with wooden lengths held together with pins. Also, the surface is swept clean and a traction compound is sprayed on the surface. It takes 10-15 people about half an hour to do the set-up, so if people leave and a handful of people stay it takes them a long time, especially after a long day racing.

If you want to practise during the week you know where the track is because it has been layed in tarmac but you have no barriers to stop you cheating (or smashing your car)
