Guys, I think I want to make up a 7cell battery pack for my XXX4 to get it going faster.

Any ideas on what cells to buy and where from? I don't want super duper racing ones (I'll probably end up blowing them up anyway). Just some NiMHs with a lot of runtime. Prefer local stock cos I don't want to bother waiting for an OS order.

well from me you can get Intellect 3600's for $3.50 + Postage

which before some cockhead jumps up and down and says i should be sponsoring a site, they are new yes. and are remaining from my bulk purchase before.

no profit at all will be made from these.

I have been making some pretty good packs out of them. i noticed a huge difference in power over my other batteries when i put them into the emaxx and the 8 cell pack i crammed into the B3 gives stupid levels of power into the hacker setup :)

What do people use for battery bars? I have had a bitch of a time trying to find proper ones in recent years.

Perth Hobby Centre in 1995. <laugh>

PHC should sell them, harris r/c sell them. or you can sometimes get em off ebay. RMS sell them, etc.

The LHS should have these in stock justo. Being a standard battery I don't think you'd have a problem getting the bars.

Not many shops carry the 2/3A bars, I got mine from RCMart

RMS have never had anythign resembling a battery bar in stock. I've asked randomly while I was there for about 4 years now.

I remember asking some guys at PHC back around 93 (I think!) and they had no idea what I was talking about when I asked them for battery bars to solder my battery pack together.

I'll do the rounds soon enough and try again I guess.

i have deans pro 3 bars. they work great.

for my shitty hack packs i use small sections of deans wire (12GA) to link the batteries. but im a cheap bastard :P

Im just trying to figure out what postage is best for the batteries guys. sending them via express satchels seems to be the cheaper option.

i just need to figure out the wieght of the cells...

i made my own out of wood. sounds stupid but its so easy. my dad suggested i use 2 bits of wood and a couple of clamps. i made one and nailed it all together. total cost was about 5c worth of nails and some offcuts. allows me to fit up to 10 cells in a row and can turn over very easy to get to the other side.

indeed,

i used super glue on the 1st few packs but it dries a little too brittle and i found it very easy crack the glue.

i used some nasty looking yellow glue on the next few packs and it worked a treat but didnt dry as fast. didnt really matter tho as i wasnt in a rush to use them

if your a very smart cookie (not me) you can make a very easy and configurable battery jig yourself.

using some thin bolts and wingnuts in the same wooden "box" design

you make it long enough for say 8 or 10 cells. then remove one cell at time and shift the end block in and redrill the holes for it. keep doing it til you have come back to maybe 4 cells wide (would you need to join less than 4 cells? or would 3 be better?) and then you have an adjustable battery jig.

go overboard and use aluminium or even sexy perspex i guess.

functional and CHEAP!!! :P

I believe CA (superglue?) and baking soda (mixed) makes a great battery cell glue.

check out this artical on one18th.com (which ive posted before) pretty cool
