Well after a few years of racing RC aeroplanes I'm going to give the cars ago. These are just a couple of pics of my new Team Associated TC4, arrived yesterday. Got both a Trinity Monster Pro Stock and a Trinity Chameleon 2 19T motor to run in it and a couple of www.harrisrc.com 's 3700mah matched battery sets to keep it honking. They were excellent, had the sets next day and they start at $84.95 per matched 3700 set.

I've got racing tyres and a couple of new body shells coming for it as well - a GT40 and a Ford Mondeo.

Not really sure, some of the specs for the batter packs are in the "shop" section of the harrisrc website. I've got to change the connectors on the car before I can run it. I'll try my hand at racing it for the first time on Friday night. As my knowledge is more in the RC plane field I'm afraid the words dumb and dog dropping come to mind with experience in the cars...looking forward to learning though.

the learning is where most the fun lies.
when you stop learning and keep doing the same thing over and over it gets tedious.

The next thing I'd like to look at but haven't got a clue what to get is a transmitter. It only comes with a basic unit, but I'd like a radio with expo, dual rates, and EPA. These are all things i have on my plane radios but don't know what's available in the cars. My plane radios are JR what's the best to go for in cars?

depends on budget. i have found my JR XS-3 to be a fking great hand control. and they are about $200 for a 40MHz TX and RX. LCD and has heaps of settings and multiple car memory. a great unit for the money. spend more and get something better or spend less and get something worse. i dont think there is much in its price range that meets up to it.

Where is the best place to get something like that? The last time I looked on Radio Model Supplies you needed to spend over 400 for something descent?

Started to use that but people tried to tune in...they thought I was a radio station...you know...4 CE. It's the race team name for my 250cc superkart, sprintkart, RC race planes, and now, my RC car(s).

I'm glad I took these photos BEFORE I raced it!!! If it moved - I hit it... If it didn't move - I hit it... !silly
Not easy getting used to a wheel radio if your normally flying with sticks. It'll take a little getting used to using soft hands on the steering, I think a radio with expo to soften the centre will be a great help. I'll look out for that JR mentioned earlier... !super

i know a fair few people who refuse to use wheel radios. they dont like em (older blokes here in town) they will only ever use thier stick radios.
i wont bag em, they seem to be alot easier to "finesse" the cars around obsacles. i hit things to see if they move out the way after 2 or 3 times :D

I was asked in one of the earlier posts what sort of run time I got out of the 3700mah batteries. I charged them at 6amps and managed to get a 6 minute final, mucked around on the street for about 5 minutes the next day and had about a 5-6 minute practice the day after on one charge. There wasn't any appreciable change in speed and when I topped the battery pack up it took about 2000mah - there seemed to be more life in them but time was running out to get ready for the 1st race. One of the guys, who has been racing for a while, commented on the run time being quite long.
Hope that gives you some idea.. !super
have you got pics of the car without the shell on?
matt.

Haven't just at the moment but I can take some if you wish. The alternative is http://www.teamassociated.com/shusting/CatalogHub/kitspecs_tc4/kittc4.htm
This pretty much has all of the info for the factory and RTR. Let me know if you want pics of anything in particular..
See ya
